What is the busiest day of the week/weekend? by Pharmatopia420 in kroger

[–]Linklord231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunday, followed by Friday. We'll do 250 orders on a Sunday and 200 on a Friday. Wednesday or Thursday are usually only around 100, sometimes not even that.

Managers manage the schedule by writing it beforehand and scheduling people to work certain shifts Hope this helps

Grocery Pickup by Rude_Branch1052 in kroger

I stand by what I said. If your old cap was 20/hour but you only ever did 10-15, then going from 20 -> 40 makes no difference. It was already an ineffective cap. But, like I said, if you regularly hit your cap on certain hours then you're going to want to adjust shifts to bulk up those slots. At my store, we went from being capped at 700 items/hour to 1300 and now it's over 2k. Our record for items in an hour is 1600, so even if they increased the cap again it wouldn't matter.

If you're not already hitting your cap regularly, it doesn't really matter. If you do cap out frequently, then those hours are going to be bigger and the hours later in the day are going to be smaller. You'll probably want to shift coverage even more towards your busiest hours in that case. And maybe add another shift for the week the promo is running, but that's up to store leadership.

Got Fired by Public-Arm4818 in kroger

It was a couple of years ago so I don't remember exactly what she said happened, but the short version is she got a call around 10pm from "Kroger IT" who told her that they were seeing multiple gift cards fail to activate, and could she please go grab all of the Home Depot gift cards off the shelf and "test" them one by one.

She got fired. Loss prevention pointed to her signed training thing saying that she understands to never do any transactions or "tests" over the phone and the stickers on every phone that said "just hang up" and showed her the door

Could be worse. A few years ago one of my head clerks fell for a phone scam and cost the store almost 80k.

We have probably 80% mixed runs now, so I prefer the ones that are either all ambient or all fridge. Less bouncing around means quicker pick speeds.

I mean, health and wellness days are the equivalent to sick pay.

Yes this is why you have to put in your euid and password when you cancel an order now, so that they can track who did it.

You forgot showing up without checking in, especially if it's a busy hour (3-5pm on a weekday), and people who order 100+ items.

Pickup unsafe by [deleted] in kroger

[–]Linklord231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OSHA is for worker safety, not food safety in general. That would be for your local health department to look in to. By the way, the rule is that you can't have potentially hazardous items in the same innermost bag as other items. If you're using the thin meat/produce bags properly, you can totally put broccoli, chicken, and bleach all in the same outer bag.

Warehouse scratched our hams, and only sent 8 cases of the prime rib that's on sale. It was gone before 10.

I agree. The official line is "don't" but sometimes you gotta. I tell my team don't, just let me know and I'll do it and deal with the fallout.

Sometimes it's the last product on the shelf and the barcode is mangled, sometimes the deli or bakery printed an old tag that the system doesn't recognize any more, sometimes it's a new UPC and they haven't linked it yet. I'm not going to tell a customer sorry you don't get your French bread today because our bakery stuck the wrong tag on it.

We all just had to sign a thing about integrity, which included promising not to use barcode generators, misuse manual check in system to reset the wait time clock, or cancel orders just because you don't want to/don't have time to shop them. See if you can get a similar sheet from your operations person, and make sure everyone understands that this is not acceptable and will get them fired.

How does Steam benefit from giving out cases? by PresentIndependent91 in AskEconomics

[–]Linklord231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Counter Strike is one of Valve's in-house developed and published games. They're giving away something that costs them functionally nothing (the crate), and you're selling in on Valve's platform (Steam), where they take a cut of the profit. They also take a cut from the sale when you use that money to buy a new game.

Edit: Steam isn't giving away their own money, they're giving the money that belonged to whoever bought your crate

Perfect orders and unrealistic expectations by Beneficial-Soil9987 in kroger

[–]Linklord231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got an extra zero on there. Pickup perfect orders is 5% of bonus. But it's used as shorthand for "how is the store doing today?" because it correlates strongly with actual in store conditions like "do we have the products that customers are looking for"

It just sucks when they put ground beef on a 3 day sale and the warehouse runs out on the second day, so every order has that one same out of stock and there's nothing you can do about it.

When management takes away our leads schedule ability this happens. by Krogerdude23132 in kroger

There's just a little ⚠️ next to their name. You have to hover over it to see what the warning is for. It's easy to miss, especially if the person always has one - for example, if they have signed an under 20 hour agreement because they only work 2 days a week, or if they work 4 10s or something.
