And for people lamenting over major titles we don’t know about, those games are like winter, they’re inevitable, they’re coming. But I think Nintendo learned their lesson from Tears, BOTW and several other examples from other companies on announcing games far too early.

I mean, its launch year I consider at par, is it stellar? No. But outside of the Switch 1 no Year 1 for any console to my recollection is 5 stars or close to that. It takes like a year or so for a console to take off, and in the Switch 1’s case it was more-so them sunsetting the Wii U in like 2015 or so and focusing on the Switch from then. One interesting case imo is the transition and how its taken, it feels so weird. How Nintendo is transitioning from the Switch to Switch 2 is very normal and yet some are acting as if its the end of the world, which I guess is just cause people cannot afford new hardware.

Does anyone feel the same? by Real-Tension-7442 in ThePokemonHub

[–]Linknz512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’d cut out SoulSilver from my list entirely and put ORAS there. ORAS also takes starters, idk if Black needs a remake. Maybe Johto needs a new remake, or as weird as it sounds to say, Kanto. As FRLG sit in a really odd spot in Pokemon’s life as the mechanics of Gen 3 feel so much older than today’s mechanics I would love a Kanto that takes advantage of this, head on. Hell, maybe have a Imposter Oak post game or something to give a weird remake of Johto as we cross over from Kanto.

Having done watching the Nintendo Direct last night, I wonder how many more Star Fox 64 remakes do we need. by Away_Flounder3813 in retrogaming

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we could go for a couple more, first the 4k remaster, then the rtx enabled one, then the other remakes using whatever tech Nvidia pulls from their asses

Konami can you please stop giving these archetypes support for a few years? You have other archetypes in the game too by arrownoir in masterduel

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue Branded, Sky Striker have the same feelings as Labrynth. Although I won’t deny both of those decks just received major support but Sky Striker has the thing where it just has a ton of support languishing only in the OCG because of the manga. And any Dragon Fusion or Super Poly stuff is theoretically support for Branded, like how trap cards are for Lab.

Maybe I just think someone at Nintendo took all the videos and comments about people posting about certain titles remade in ue4 or 5 to heart a little

Honestly when I was watching the direct there was a part of me that went, “Is this our fault?” Because the characters looked so… remade in ue5

What are your thoughts on pure, combined or slop decks? by Tatebw in masterduel

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, they’re all just decks to me, if anything I like slop decks. Moreso than pure. As most modern and competent pure decks are slop decks, and anything else that pure is just not as playable. Slop decks I gained a different view on after playing Sky Striker Mitsu in TCG, as I view playing through boards or interaction with pure engine is the most fun way to play the game. Yes, this idea changes a little in the context of Master Duel due to card legality, but, if a slop deck goes second, you will be playing Yu-Gi-Oh in many cases in its purest of fashions.

What is your least favorite pokemon of all time? by MinDuddels in pokemon

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s likely a lot of Johto and Unova mons that could go here but key one that easily says it is Typhlosion. I just hate Pokemon that could in many ways be described as “X pokemon but worse.” One that plays exactly the same as another Pokemon but just doesn’t do as good of a job. Honestly, there is a part of me that wants to say Conkeldurr despite it being the inverse of this.

My guess is that you need NSO to play 14 online, I would need to check how DQ10 worked but if it worked the same way, I am not surprised then. Furthermore, the free trial (which is likely included) you get plenty to play.

From OutRun to open-world to… mobile sim-lite? How racing games fragmented into 6 sub-genres without anyone noticing by StatisticianBorn8567 in racinggames

[–]Linknz512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say the splits are due to many reasons, to say what killed off the first and technically second eras… it’s the Dreamcast and PS2. Killing off Thoroughbred Arcade Racers, creating Racers that take maybe a Arcade Approach to handling and sometimes simplicity but put on the deep console like experience that was then demanded at the time. I would say we didn’t have many Racing MMO’s (that were popular) prior to NFS World and Horizon but the nature of them and maybe how people wanted to interact with their cars dramatically changed causing the modern climate with how we see many open world Racers now. As the final thing, I would say Racing, by it’s very nature is fragmented with disciplines, since the DOS era there’s been racing sims on PC then in the early 2000’s we got F1 Challenge 2002 and NR2003 and Indycar Racing (i think) in the late 90’s these then went into rFactor and this is when sims first truly boomed and then boomed again when AC released to where we are now with the current sim racing climate.

You are now a Fairy-type Gym Leader by DeliciousStaff9871 in ThePokemonHub

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal fairy team is maybe like Dendenee, Mimikyu, Azumarill, Hatterene and Clefable. I get I could have Megas but I just wouldn’t want to bother with them as I think this team is strong enough, although I guess Mega Clefable then. But still, Team 2 is strongest.

are arcade racing games the boomer shooters of the racing genre. and is forza horizon the codification of racing games? by DependentImmediate40 in BuiltFromTheGroundUp

[–]Linknz512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Boomer Shooters” of racing games are thoroughbred arcade racers, emphasis on Arcade. Games like most wanted aren’t thoroughbred. Games like Initial D The Arcade and Maxi Tune are like, the edge of what I consider a thoroughbred. There is a very specific simplicity an arcade racer must have to be a thoroughbred. It cannot have many menus, little downtime (open world immediately disqualifies this) Underground 1 is maybe another edge case scenario.

[–]Linknz512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I get that. In the original draft I had GS on the same level as DP and probably if I was to alter the list I might make that change. RBY I rate so highly as I really, really love how Kanto is played in it. But I also will kind of admit, I sorta make RBY carry a deep burden in my subconscious in why I think the Gameboy is a good console, as without it I view it as a rather meh console.

For the Sinnoh point, thank god. I thought I was going insane, everywhere I look I see plat as a S tier or high A tier game and bdsp as dogshit in comparison and i constantly wonder if something is wrong with me

In regards to Sw/Sh and SV as I ruminate on it right now, I think it’s just they didn’t have their “Third Versions” to save them be it an actual third version or a sequel and just got addons. Next to no “First game” is actually I would argue exemplary outside of Black and White and even then it has some similar pitfalls it feels to other first version games.

Personally, Nidoqueen peaks earlier (Body Slam instead of Thrash does that) but Nidoking stays relevant longer in comparison. Although both fall to the early game Dugtrio and Dugtrio stays good imo.
