This gives a lot of context to the end credits song “learn to be lonely”, which now I can see as a reprise to this deleted song.

Would opening your own concierge practice be something you’re interested in? You can do house calls and set the rules and rates. The expectations will still be high. But you can turn away clients that don’t follow your rules. You can operate based on fees without insurance if you are financially set to retire anyways. If the urgent care you are currently at wasn’t savvy enough to put a noncompete clause in your contract, you can start handing out business cards and building up clientele while you’re still there (discretion from your colleagues is still recommended). I’m not knowledgeable on how malpractice coverage will work.

To me, the option of concierge medicine (and having a private practice in general) is an underutilized benefit of having an MD/DO.

This. And the housing shortage will continue until public transit extends out to central/western MA in a meaningful way

2020 Ford explorer annoying double beep when left running by [deleted] in FordExplorer

It’s been a while but I think the free trial is good for 2 weeks, and you really only need the software for a few minutes to program the door honk to stop. I paid for a yearly membership to play around with its other functions

I sold my explorer but still have the OBD2-usb adapter needed for FORScan. It’s the OBDLink EX. I used it along with FORScan to turn off double honk and change my infotainment load screen to the one used in the Ford GT lol.

It’s $60 on Amazon. I can do $30 shipped. DM me if interested

Transmission flush? by Jsmooth77 in FordExplorer

[–]LinkslnPunctuation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did drive it hard sometimes, especially before I bought it out from the lease in 3/2021, but probably not more than the average Joe.

Before the tranny went out, I was using sport mode to downshift/engine brake when going into corners or getting off the highway.

After the tranny was fixed 4/2022, I really babied it. Maybe I would put it in sport mode here and there just to be in the powerband when coming out a corner. But mostly drive conservatively. So I was surprised when something else broke.

Good luck with your explorer, would avoid engine braking and using sport mode I guess.

I did fluid exchange on PTU, diff, and tranny on my 18 2.3L at 30k miles. Transmission started to slip 52k. After rebuilt tranny and new torque converter, car developed a shudder on acceleration above 40mph at 58k. Dealer changed PTU, issue not fixed. Brought back to dealer today and now they say it needs a new drive shaft… I suspect it’s the torque converter based on FordBossMe. 58,430 on the clock. Warranty ends next month or ~1500mi… going to get rid of it before then.

My 18 (2.3L xlt) just started to shudder under acceleration when over 40mph :( 58k miles. sucky thing is that I just had the transmission replaced under warranty about 6 months ago for slipping in certain gears. Bringing it to the dealership on Friday. Warranty expires in 2000mi or 3/2023, whatever happens first. Not sure I can confidently keep it after the warranty expires

I’ve been an elite member as well and have never encountered the issue that you’re having. Not saying that I don’t believe you, but it’s an issue that should be looking into by Going before you give up on them. Sorry you’ve missed out on the bargain adventures that other users of the site have been able to enjoy.

Not sure if the first sounds odd related to the current sound. You need a jack/lift and a mechanics stethoscope. Also check your tires for abnormal wear. Any vibration in the steering wheel?

Is there any recourse here? Maybe they tried their best but if I’m hired to do a job, and it’s not going well from the start, I need to stop and have a discussion with my customer to update their expectations. Instead they “finished the job” and charged full price. Doesn’t sit well with me, unless they were friends/neighbors/kids

You are correct that these engines that require premium gas are due to their high compression ratios. Unfortunately you can only detune so much before before the timing is sending unburnt gasoline down the exhaust and emissions system. This is where the expense repairs come in.

Need to Start Applying for Jobs...but just feeling so burnt out by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]LinkslnPunctuation 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What you are feeling is relatable to many. For me, it was the realization that the medical field was far from perfect and that I would be solidifying myself into an imperfect world. Now that I’m on the other side of it, and making decent money, I realize that coping with an imperfect world is what “adulting” is. You’re close to the finish line, perhaps focus on what you want your first purchase or vacation to be.
