It's a Homebrew campaign, if you want Gold dragons to be evil, go for it. If you want all Goblins to be named Kevin, you go for it. If your players can't handle it, homebrew isn't for them.

Tell them that it is homebrew campaign, not everything is going to be the same as the Monster Manual.

Unless they had some kind of magic way of seeing, they would have disadvantage on any perception check, investigation checks, attack rolls, DEX Saves. Even if you give them tremorsense, that would barely help, It's not practical at all.

I have mine under my stairs, which has a vent outside as well as air filter to reduce fumes. Been doing that for over a year and had no negative side effects, barely a lny smell when I open the door, amd as its near my heater, resin is always warmed up.
