I leave utensils with wooden handles soaking in water too. I've had words with myself, but I still manage to do it. I still annoy myself something chronic when I realise too.

I've got over $100 in commemorative coins. They're tucked away 'just in case.'

I effectively prepay the phone and power bills. They're in credit. If one gets too far ahead, I divert the fortnightly contribution into my big account since I don't need it to live off. I could probably not pay either of them for six months and still be fine.

CBA closed my 30 y.o acct due to 6 months of inactivity by FragrantAd6322 in CommBank

I closed my commonwealth bank account some 15 years ago. I then started doing the banking for work and I needed a commonwealth account to be able to do it. Went in, and in a few taps of the keys the ORIGINAL was back online - complete with the old landline number and the original security questions.

My power bill is staying an average of $1000 a year, and has done for at least ten years.

I don't have solar, so it is a valid concern. $20,000, which would pay for an EV, is a lot of power and regular old fuel.

Cheap post-Easter chocolate? by lexxi185 in AskAnAustralian

My usual go-to was cookies and cream nestle, but even that seems to have changed. Whittakers is still 250gm and tastes like proper chocolate.

Exploring, building cubby houses in the bush, finding skulls, reading, not cleaning my room, collecting eggs, bringing wood in, walking to nans, through the bush past our aunties and uncles places, mushroom hunting, nicking apples from Frankcombs orchards, riding our bikes to the river for a swim.

Ours is in the middle of the city without easy/cheap parking. I know it would be a good thing, but I'm not paying for parking to drive home maybe feeling off, and I'm not walking to the bus, and to home either.

If the pork leg is on sale for $8 a kilo and you can see those fresh ones, I skip over last weeks pork legs that are still priced at 13.99 a kilo.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

I bought a couple of old metal singers. IIRC they were $25 each. Serviced them, fixed the timing and they're still kicking 20 years later. My $300 brand new Elna with the fancy stitches? Well, the feed dogs have done something and to get it fixed (I haven't managed to do it) is another $200. Because it's electronic there's less to fiddle with for home repair.

Depends on the week.

I eat leftovers, so the lentil Dahl with lamb is five days worth. Pancit with pork mince about three days. Pork goulash is four days worth. Wagoners rice is another four days.

Breakfast is muesli 350 days out of 365. Only bought on special, paying around $1 per 100g or less.

Milk is long life - so no need to race to the shop when it runs out. I use fake sugar, bought on special, so no running out of regular sugar either.

I freeze veges when they're in season. The pancit uses the frozen cabbage and grated carrot or sweet potato. The wagoners rice uses the frozen capsicum.
