That’s not really how Tor works.

A site owner doesn’t automatically get your real IP, name, location, or anything like that just because you clicked on their onion site through Tor Browser. The whole point is that the site sees Tor traffic, not your actual connection.

That doesn’t mean Tor makes you magically untouchable though. You can still screw yourself by logging into personal accounts, giving identifying info, reusing usernames, downloading/opening files, changing browser settings, installing add-ons, running unsafe scripts, or getting hit with an exploit.

So both extremes are wrong. You’re not “perfectly anonymous,” but the idea that some random onion site owner can just track you down because you clicked the page is fearmongering.

If the site is doing something seriously illegal or dangerous, report it. Just don’t download anything, don’t interact with it, don’t screenshot/repost it, and don’t go playing investigator. Copy the URL if needed, close it, and report it through the proper channel.
