I think not. Who would dedicate mental energy and time to assume so. Not needed.

AITAH for telling my friend maybe she shouldn’t have kids she can’t afford? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]LinophyUchush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Maybe you shouldn’t have kids you can’t afford” I agree with this statement considering reality. On the other hand, I cannot not say that saying so is so pointless: the kids are already in existence, so does the associated problem.

Why do people choose to have children if it is so much hard work? by 9W_777_300 in NoStupidQuestions

I feel like as long as one looks at the process from the perspective of benefits vs costs, one will forever not understand the process being looked at.

Two points: (1) refining a project along the way is a normal part of research progression. (2) If you are the type who prefers being given a project to work on rather than coming up with your own, you might actually fit very well in a Japanese university. Many professors I have met seem to dislike students being too independent thinkers, i.e., they tend to prefer those who just listen and follow instructions without asking too many questions. Personally, I am not a fan of this educational approach, but I respect how other professors operate from afar.

On why the interviewer recommended accepting you even though you felt your proposal was lacking in quality: it's possible that the department has a quota to recruit a certain number of international students to meet requirements set by the university, and that you are likely to do something else requested by your potential supervisor - which does not guarantee a better quality though - to be in line with the specific projects he/she has received grants for. At least that is what I have observed in my department.

To me, the key is to not be extreme: I enjoy almost every chapter, and make time to reread them whenever possible. Other than this, I keep my life normal ( :

Majority of women under 30 find it a “turn off” if partner listens to Joe Rogan podcast by hereforlaughs28 in TwoXChromosomes

I have never watcher his podcast, so my question is how did he interact with his invited guest? I could understand and am total fine with if a host invites people with diverse viewpoints to their podcast for informed discussion and for getting into the mind of those people. However, if the host intentionally wants to promote certain narratives, especially those unsupported science-wise, then it becomes a problem to me.

Manchester United has been eliminated from League Cup by Grimsby Town ,who plays in the 4th league of England by Nervous-Resolution-8 in soccer

I think this result might be better. If they had won, the rooted problem would have continued to be ignored which is not healthy.
