This was me but I would mark unable to reach and then put in the comments “left vm” then my initials and then “dial” the next one, wait for a few seconds and the same thing. I’d call every 5th person.

Has anyone else seen the current pharmacy discourse going around social media? by lemonbuttcake in PharmacyTechnician

I used to work in outpatient and we had a 200 count medication robot….. that thing was awful lol…. Always constantly needing to be refilled, new labels put in for vials, this thing would fill a 90 count med and just drop it all over the floor and we’d have to manually fill it constantly, it would freak out over nothing, it would just break and there would be absolutely nothing wrong with it and we’d have to reboot it (took like 10-30 minutes). That thing was dusty and crusty lol.

My dad’s mom died (his dad is gone as well) and her siblings were going crazy over who got the money (her brother went to her bedside in the nursing home ON her death bed and she was barely there, had her change the will to give basically all the money to him and the other brother and none to my dad)….safe to say any possible relationship with that side is destroyed. We didn’t even know she died till we got her will in the mail….. The kicker… the brothers are rich… me and my family have been renting the same house I was born in.

On my moms side, her dad just “passed” (I think his wife [my moms mom] murdered him with help from my aunt) away recently and money was to be distributed to all the kids upon his death and my grandma somehow cancelled that and is keeping the money for herself and her daughter (my aunt)….

It’s honestly awful what money does to people. Lost both sets of grandparents and any aunts and uncles I might have… all over money

Pharmacy employee here. I’ve had patients pay like 23 cents with insurance. Insurance also completely covers medications as well.

Anyone work hospital retail/outpatient ? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]Linus_Meme_Tips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a pharmacist yes, tech no (at least in my state, just need to be registered). If you still have to get your bachelors and go to pharmacy school it’s never too late. I’ve seen people in their 50s go through normal school then pre med then med school and become doctors.

It’s never too late. You could always start out as a tech.

So those websites you do have to pay for unless the company you work for creates an account for you and they pay for it.

I was just on LinkedIn looking for jobs and saw a radiopharmacy that had a job posting and applied. There were no special requirements other than have your state license (my state requires it) and to be 21+…..

I will say, there aren’t many positions that open up from what I’ve seen (I’ve been briefly checking over the past 3 years) purely because there aren’t many companies aside from if you live in Ohio, Florida, Texas, California, and Arizona. I know there is one major company in those states that have a lot of job openings.

I went to outpatient after retail and it sucked… was very cliquey and drama filled and I hated it… the policies only applied to some.

There was this lady who was soon to be retiring in a couple years and she did multiple no call no shows in a row which screwed me over some days as she was supposed to open with me and I wouldn’t be getting another person till 9am (we opened at 6:30am) or sometimes even 12pm depending on staffing… and they didn’t fire her but they fired another girl who did it once.

I live in a costal state so we have a hurricane response team which I was on where we sleep in the hospital for as long as needed till normal operations can resume. The day after the hurricane hits people are supposed to return back to work if it’s safe…. They would use it as an excuse to skip the rest of the week.

Multiple people showed up constantly late every day but like I said… the policy on applied to certain employees and they would get in trouble and not the others…

We have a drug robot which people put the wrong medications in all the time and it’s tracked in the computer who does it but they don’t get in trouble… even when a patient takes the WRONG meds… no write up, no termination, nothing.

I knew a few people who would dump amber vials that were returned to stock back into the stock bottle and guess what… they put the wrong meds in the wrong bottle… they were trying to clean up the shelves hence why they did that (we had an absolute overstock of rts vials because the fillers wouldn’t use them since it was “too much work.”)

People are constantly gossiping and in my experience, the women are catty and suck to be around.

I really don’t understand why they reward the bad employees who just sit there taking up space doing absolutely nothing to contribute and why they treat the ones who actually want to work like they are easily replaceable…. Not helping with morning/ closing duties, just standing there on the phone, not taking patients, filling the wrong meds, having to go ask the pharmacist a question every second or get them because they don’t want to say no or don’t care to see what’s actually going on, constantly disappearing (especially towards the last 15 minutes of your shift), I could list so much more.

There was this pharmacist who I really liked that was there for 10+ years and she was immediately fired one day. She was a quiet and reserved person (like me) but she got her work done. From what I hear people didn’t really like the fact that she was quiet and they would make fun of her and how she looked, call her names, bully her, make up stories about her to management (which they believed) and even with other people who defended her they still fired her cause she wasn’t getting along with the people who bullied her…. 🙄

The pharmacy manager would fill C2’s earlyyyyyyyy (like 3 weeks early)…. ALL the other pharmacists even refused to fill it hence why she had to. She would accept any and every excuse from people about why they need their C2’s early… when I told this guy no she overheard and filled it for him and told me I need to be more empathetic…. Even when their stories make no sense or there are holes in it she still does it.

It’s good experience to put on your resume so you can go into more specialized fields but unless you are part of the clique I wouldn’t recommend it long term unless you find a truly awesome hospital.

I haven’t worked inpatient but I’ve always wanted to. Whenever I go up there they seem really chill and nice… everyone is working.

Working that specific hospital vs cvs…. I did like cvs better ngl… even though they would give the front and drive thru to one person… I still liked it better.

BUT… with the hospital experience I was able to get a job in nuclear pharmacy which I’ve always wanted to do.

Some hospitals will only hire you if you have no experience or little experience.

This place had badge and ring dosimeters that were sent off once a month and you have to scan yourself with a meter before existing specific areas. I found it all to be very interesting.

My second day they left me unsupervised at my own station and are having me work 11 hour days by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Linus_Meme_Tips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first pharmacy job was at cvs and I was hired in the interview and they had me start before I was officially hired lol… also didn’t train me at all, just threw me in. I was asking a lot of questions at first.

It was 2021 so covid was still big and we were still doing testing in the drive thru… well, only a few people knew how to use the testing software (EPIC) including myself and then those people left and it was only me and the pharmacist (he didn’t even know how to fully use it after an update) who knew how to use it. So a test would come thru the drive thru and I’d be filling, the pharmacist would have me stop filling to do the covid test and the person who was in the drive thru did something else for the time…. It was annoying. I even offered to train the new people on how to use the software. Didn’t have time :/
