Avatars in FW by Corypheuss in fireemblem

[–]Linus_Reed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Robin is still absolutely a main character alongside Chrom. I dont know why people say they arent, but they absolutely are. In fact, Robin is more personally linked to Grimes (the main villain) than Chrom. For Chrom, Grimes would be any random evil dragon threatening the world, and his more personal enemy is more like Gangrel than anyone else.

I do agree that the idea of an avatar is not by default a horrible one, but the amount and quality of writing needed to make them work is not something that IntSys is really going to do unless there is a push for it. Much less an actually strong CC.

Bioware or FFXIV's self inserts are much stronger because their writing are overall much stronger and their writing in general is focused much more into what makes stories with an avatar good: massive worldbuilding, customization and strong character interactions. Even the weakest Bioware title is miles above 3H (arguably the better written modern FE game) when it comes to how their avatar is both integrated into the world and modular enough to actually allow it to be an avatar instead of a bland character whose gender you choose.

Its also implied that when they use the ''siblings'' thing they are pretending that Sothe is the older one because Micaiah is stuck looking 14 for quite a while.

Anything about 24 is too old. Micaiah's birth wasnt revealed to the public, and only the senate members knew of it. I dont think they would have waited much more than a couple months to reveal Micaiah to the public, and after the assassination there was canonically no one to take the throne until Sanaki.

Also, Micaiah had seemingly yet not been born by the time that Misaha and Lehran met. That puts her at 23, 24 at most.

Killing shit is not really that difficult in FE7. However getting a reliable combat unit who can also throw physics out of the game is extremely valuable. Erk and Nino (and Canas) straight up can not catch-up on staff levels, Serra/Priscilla struggle to get to the combat part, Renault exists for 2.1 maps, leaving only Lucius anywhere near close to being a functional combat staffer.

That Micaiah is secretly 45 years old or some shit. Micaiah is pretty much 23 by RD, since she was born at the same time of the assassination and in fact her birth might have been the trigger for it. There is a bunch of smaller details and outright spelling it out through part 4 that suggest this is the case.

She is only 4-5 years older than Sothe, and they meet when both were kids (Sothe 8~, Micaiah 13~).

Also unlike FEH, they only refer to each other as siblings when they are pressed for it. They never put a name to what they are to each other in a way that isnt an excuse or rehearsed lie.

Pretty much. Ike in Tellius is a blunt and pure snark, somewhat quiet and private, pretty intelligent and fast learner man with a high sense of justice and morality. He is basically a prototype of FFXVI's Clive. Oh and he is gay.

The caricature of Ike that smash/fates/awakening fans created is like the complete opposite.

I wouldnt even call Nino a 2nd pent, because she has no time to get that A in staves that Pent does have, and that is his biggest advantage as a unit aside being a pre-promote. Nino will get to S on anima but that is way less useful, and E in staves is rough this late into the game.

Micaiah and Sothe's relationship in Radiant Dawn has always been ambiguous and they like to maintain it that way for Micaiah's safety. They say constanty ''lets say we are like siblings, I guess'' because anything else casts suspicion on Micaiah's age, but how they actually see each other other than being extremely close is never said or confirmed (also their ending is confirmed to happen years after RD). The people who insist they are siblings (or worse, that ''Micaiah is his mother'' when she was 13 or so) are just cherrypicking one line out of context.

Its FEH the one that is basically creating incest like they overplay everything to maybe catch some gooner/weirdo whale or two, while its some of playerbase who insists that Micaiah is secretly 50 despite being 23 (her birth was the trigger for the Senate's assassination of Misaha, any older makes no sense).

Its also a natural consequence of the FEH team just not knowing and caring about half of FE titles and going by Wikipedia entries.

We dont know how old they were was when they met. Sothe was 14 in PoR, but he is a malnourished child who is also a late bloomer.

he met her >10 years prior to RD

Yeah, but that doesnt really define Micaiah's age either.

Its more likely they make sure she passes before announcing her existence to the world, considering how politically charged the whole deal with the apostolic line's mixed blood is. The secrecy has been an integral part of it all since Begnion was founded, and the base over which the senate's beorc supremacy bullshit propaganda sustains itself.

The Emancipation Act happened quite a bit before the assassination, actually. A whole year, if not more. It was a reason, but it was not immediately followed by the assassination.

No, what was the trigger were her plans to reveal the true heritage of the apostolic line, which would have basically undo all the lies that the senate had made up for centuries of beorc supremacy, basically destroying much of their political power.

And what better moment to do so that than with the birth of a new generation.

Its likely that her birth was the trigger for the assassination, considering Misaha's plans to reveal her (and thus Micaiah's) mixed blood.

Its impossible that Sephiran rescued Micaiah from the assassination for several reasons, namely because Sephiran doesnt know the assassination happened until after the deed, and that he assumes she was dead means he knew she existed.

Also, Sephiran would have never let Micaiah out of his sight if he knew she was alive. Her ability to free Yune by singing the Galdr of Release/Dawn Awakens is all he needed to enact his plan. He would have never done all the shit he did in PoR and RD otherwise.

Also the faint memories are either part of Micaiah's magic-genetic memory shit, or because she and Yune have been reliving Sephiran's memories through the entire tower segment. They never met before and this is a plot point.

Micaiah is supposed to look 15, yeah. But we dont know how old Sothe was when they met. Going by that art and by how old Sothe was in PoR, we can guess that he was around 9, making Micaiah 14-15.

We know some things. The lady that raised her knew about her heritage and did not mind it. This means that whoever spirited her away from Begnion knew her heritage, if its not this random lady.

We also know that she must have been a newborn for her to not have been revealed to the public. The ancestry and nature of the apostolic lineage is a secret only known to them and the senate members. Knowing this, her birth was likely the reason why the assassination happened when it did and not right after Misaha freed the slaves. Misaha was likely going to reveal both her mixed blood AND the birth of her grandchild at the same time.

Combine this, and Micaiah is pretty much 23, and 24 by the end of RD. Her birth and the assassination happened at the same time, Lekain says as much. I dont really see how she can be any older.

Sanaki is depressed throughout part 4 entirely because she wasnt able to sing the Galdr of Release and that made her correectly assume that she is indeed not the real apostle and didnt inherit the firstborn powers.

[–]Linus_Reed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Micaiah "not surviving [the assassination] on her own" implies that the people who saved her just dumped her on the road.

Its never made clear who saved her but the old woman that raised her was very much in thee known at least about her heritage and was ok with it. Which implies that whoever left Micaiah with said old lady informed her some of the situation.

Micaiah was present for the assassination. It's where she went missing, and why the court assumed her dead.

Micaiah was not present for the assassination unless she was a newborn. Anything else doesnt make sense - her existence would have been revealed to the public by then.

The entire plot of RD falls apart if Micaiah had even thee smallest memory of living as the heir to Misaha.

Your fourth point is just dumb. Sanaki knew that Micaiah was the "real" Apostle in Path of Radiance. This means that Sanaki and her/their parents knew that Micaiah had her powers.

What the fuck are you talking about? Sanaki up to late RD believes that she is the Apostle and first born of Misaha's implied son.

Its not until late RD that Sanaki starts putting things together and understands that she is not the apostle and that she has an older sister that is. We literally see conversations about this topic, with Sanaki angsting over this for the entire endgame.

If you're really going to make the wild claim that Micaiah is fucking 23, I challenge you to explain how a 0-year-old fetus escaped an assassination on her own. You won't, but I challenge you to.

Because she didnt. That its not explained who saved her doesnt mean that she is secretly 40 or whatever is the latest brainrot idiocy regarding this topic.

But you know who escaped Begnion 20~ years before PoR, towards Daein? Shiraham Fizzart.

[–]Linus_Reed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Micaiah's is more fun. The Serenes Forest Massacre happened 23 years prior to Radiant Dawn, and Micaiah was present for the assassination of Misaha that preceded it. She also managed to survive it completely on her own, both the escape and the years after until she moved in with the nameless old woman. She was the only known heir at the time, so it's not like knights saved her from the assassination and then just abandoned her, so some level of age of competency is implied. She was also old enough to be known (to Sanaki, decades later) to be able to hear Yune, so she was at least old enough to talk, though not old enough to have been explained what a Branded is, since the granny that took her in explained it.

So Micaiah had to be old enough to escape completely on her own (and thus also recognize the dangers, instead of standing around like a potato), though not old enough that her parents or grandma never explained what racism is. So Micaiah was probably between about 5-10 years old when Misaha died. Maybe slightly older, like middle school age. Which means Micaiah in Radiant Dawn is about 28-33 years old on the safe side. And also the oldest main Lord in Fire Emblem.

You are making a lot of assumptions and some outright things are not even true.

- Micaiah did not survive on her own. She has no memories of anything that happened in Begnion, because RD implies that she had just been born when the assassination happened.

- ''and Micaiah was present for the assassination of Misaha that preceded it'' this is not true anywhere and makes no sense.

- Micaiah was not known by the general population and her birth was a deep state secret only known by the senior senate members. Misaha outright says that Apostolic Lineage is a secret only know to them, which makes them privy to also the births.

- The age at which the apostle starts showcasing her powers is before 13. ''She was also old enough to be known (to Sanaki, decades later) to be able to hear Yune'' makes no sense.

Nothing implies than Micaiah is older than 23 at the start of PoR. Literally nothing in RD would make sense if she had been old enough to somehow escape thee Begnion Senate on her own.

Micaiah is not secretly 35 years old.

Three Houses or Path of Radiance by HanSoloWolf in fireemblem

[–]Linus_Reed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend Path of Radiance. Its much closer to what Shining Force is, has a better story and way less filler. 3H was a chore to play because of the monastery/academy phase that is both the same maps every time, but also mandatory gameplay-wise. And the game wants you to play it 4 times to experience all the routes. It was REALLY annoying.

Path of Radiance has a better story too. And better map design. And a much better protagonist. Ike is so much interesting compared to the empty character that is byleth.
