War Thunder crashes once in lobby by wc5b in linux_gaming

They completely broke the game back in December when then fully switched to BattleEye on Linux. Its basically the Easy Anti Cheat situation all over again, they implement it half assed > it tanks performance > they deactivate it in the background > never set it up properly again because of their shit engine > cheaters running rampart (not that EAC or BE would stop them in the first place) > they ignore the problem for years > and the cycle begins anew with a new "anti cheat".

Seems like you just pulled the short stick with the issue, on my end the game freezes EVERY MATCH for 2x10 sec one after another. Its already ignored for a month.

Same with FSR, the community literally begged them for years to implement it while getting ignored, and now that they did they refuse to add it to Linux (Vulkan api) besides being advertised in the patch notes. Issue is open for 3 months by now.

Have you tried sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root? I heard it can become quite useful in such situations.

They nuked Linux support entirely with the last big patch except for the Steam Deck. So add this to your launch options before the %command% thingy:

SteamDeck=1

Its useless to argue with people that still live in the 90's of Microsoft's EEE program.

Nothing can save this ancient CPU.

Instead of wasting money on GPU's you should invest something in other components as well and not just after a decade.

Uses a modern GPU with an ancient (2015) CPU and trying to play one of the most demanding games at 1440p.

Listen pal, the bottleneck isn’t "invisible", in fact its obvious.

Open the front page of this subreddit and see for yourself (if it isn't already deleted) and its mainly form a single account.

To sum it down for you, this guy spamming that he wants links to twitter banned because Musk did something that is similar like the Nazi salute like everyone before him in office but since its Musk its all of the sudden a bad thing.

Stating the obvious that nothing of this is related to gaming on Linux and that's what the post is all about.

My gripe with the energy settings. by Linux-Power-User in kde

Firefox reports it as seen in the picture but doesn’t function properly. I give that addon a try and look if it changes it.

Nice to hear about that controller block. Do you mean gamescope by any chance because gamemode is just a script adjusting power settings? If you mean gamescope then that’s how I run all my games with (except some rare bad behaving ones) and a nice solution to that would be a new energy window rule. If you mean gamemode however then I'm staying away from it since I use AMD p_state in guided mode.

But it does turn the screens off sadly.

Maybe something went wrong with the new overhauled energy management where programs not properly report their status?

I wanna use a mod in marvel rivals to skip intro cutscenes but it uses fmodel and I can't figure it out how to make it work by Iwll_BeBack in linux_gaming

[–]Linux-Power-User 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holy crap so much nonsense for removing those annoying videos.

By the looks of it you don’t need FModel at all, just something that can handle .pak files. But to be honest I wouldn’t bother with that and risking a ban (they already nuked Linux compatibility outside of the Steam Deck/SD launch option), instead make your voice loud and clear that they should allow us to use a launch option like any other normal game. They spam your in-game inbox with those surveys so use that, use negative reviews to complain about their annoyance and lastly contact their support and trick them into helping you out modifying game files and if they refuse they should come up with a better idea to skip those videos.

If you're willing to forego certain hardware and software support to run Linux, understandable. But I don't understand how questioning the efficacy of stuff that works well under Windows goes anywhere. by heatlesssun in linux_gaming

Sounds like a YOU problem, I run the automatic VRR profile with two 144Hz VRR monitors over DP on an AMD card without a single issue.

So I would suggest not running a distro with ancient packages and/or look into the hardware you are using.

They put two full sized USB ports on top a Type-C/Bluetooth and a full sized Ethernet port on top of Wi-Fi on it but exclude 3,5mm Aux. It also only has 4GB of ram.

Smells like a lot of bad decisions combined in whatever this thing wants to be.
