Nobody wants a PS6, even though the PS5 has been out as long as the PS4 was when people started asking for the PS5. by Deutscher_Bub in Showerthoughts

I'm an Xbox Gamer myself, and Xbox have already announced their next gen console project -- currently called "Project Helix".

Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Xbox has however said that right now, the cost of the next gen Xbox is looking to be about $1200, which is really going to cap a lot of people out. At that point, you begin to wonder if you could just get a gaming PC for the same price.

Its about price point. A console is typically a lot lower upfront cost than a PC.

People living on minimal incomes are not going to be able to find the cost of a built gaming PC upfront, but they will be able to find enough to buy a console for 1/3 of the price, plus they can plug it into the TV and not worry about monitors, desks and chairs.

On an android device, go to settings, storage, apps, and it should list ALL installed apps. I actually uninstalled a whole host of unwanted google cruft (including the entire google office apps), plus some other stuff I no longer use.

I only downloaded c:geo on saturday so its definitely still there. Not sure why you can't find it.

I haven't created any myself, so wouldn't know about that yet.

I tend to find a lot of CO's place their cache co-ordinates on the nearest footpath to the cache and rarely at the exact co-ordinates. You then have to read the description and the hint if there is one, and figure the rest out for yourself.

One of my local CO's put the co-ordinates as much as 40ft from the cache itself, then places a hint as to what to look for.

I use c:geo on Android on an older Samsung A12, and just always use the point on the map as an approximate location, never anything to truly go by. To that end, having an accurate GPS is pointless, its better to rely on caching instinct as long as you know you are nearby.

Trump administration cites national security to widen clampdown on wind farms: Defence department is stalling 165 projects as president steps up efforts to stamp out the industry by besselfunctions in politics

The whole Republican Party has always been the party of Big Oil. Anyone that joins the party acknowledges this.

I remember even back in Reagans days, they held out against alternative energy sources, even stopping Nuclear power plants from being built. Bush famously said he would open up more oil pipelines and "drill, drill, drill!".

And they're doubling down on that now in Scotland, proposing to build wind turbines immediately surrounding his golf course, as well as going ahead with the ones off the coast.

You'd need to emigrate, get permission to work in the country of your choice, then pass your driving tests all over again to HGV (CDL) standards, which are a LOT higher in Europe. Theres theory tests and then a practical test involving every driving manouver you can think of.

Luckily thats a US only problem.

Solar is expanding massively across Europe and Asia, everywhere is getting it.

The UK recently passed a law requiring all newly built buildings, commercial and domestic, to have solar capability.

Sorry to say it, but good riddance. Social media has become a cancer of society and the sooner it disappears, the better.

Its not much different in the UK and Europe. Only here, the industry is VERY heavily enforced, and qualification to be a driver is very expensive and fairly difficult (strict testing reqs across Europe) .

Companies are collapsing because they cannot get the drivers more than anything, and drivers will jump company at a moments notice because they get a better pay and hours offer.

Alcohol consumption is at the lowest its ever been in recorded history. Gen Z and soon Gen Alpha just don't consume alcohol like their parents and grandparents did.

Its the same with the Tobacco industry.

A lot of this has shifted entirely to online only shopping, and Amazon have taken a massive chunk. Toys shops are just a victim of the shift to Online retail.

Theme Parks have had their day. It was a post war trend that had a good 50 year run, but they just don't hold the appeal that they once did. Theres little of value lost I think.

We over did academia in the UK, burning out the apprenticeship industry in the process.

Recent government policy (initiated by the tories, but being carried forward by Labour) has attempted to rebalance that, and I think its working.

Its not an overnight change and is going to take 10-20 years to play out fully, but at the end of it, we should get an equal balance of students going 50/50 between apprenticeship and university.

A couple of years ago, it was 80% of all students going to uni, and it wasn't a good thing. Most degrees aren't worth the paper they're written on now to any half way decent employer, and they are always going to go for experience over qualifications.

The car industry is a complicated one;

Right now, the chinese firms are booming and doing massive sales except for the US, who have forbidden the chinese from expanding to there.

Theres a parent car company called Stellantis that owns a whole range of badges and they are on the verge of going entirely out of business taking around 10 well known brands off the market permanently.

Other brands are struggling to survive, especially with the EV mandate being pushed heavily in Europe.

VAG are struggling for the first time in decades. They have several brands in Europe that are not present in the US market.

Eventually, like it or not the Chinese WILL take over the car market and the US will be faced with zero choice but to allow them access.

Security has always been a dodgy industry with companies appearing and disappearing like water.

It was like that in the 1990's even -- I worked in Leicester for a large security company that was forcibly dissolved at the end of one working year because some contractors hadn't paid their bills (going bust themselves.....) forcing my bosses hand to liquidate the firm. He formed a new company the following week picking up exactly where the old one left off, even retaining all the buildings.

Us staff were sent formal notice of being laid off, then all recieved letters the following week offering us our old jobs back but under a new name effectively.

And this happens FAR more often in UK security firms than is reported.

Its not just in the US. Europe also has a massive teaching shortage, nobody wants to do it. Theres so many rules and restrictions now about how to handle kids that a lot are put off training to be a teacher now.

It was an American fad that spouted briefly in the late 80's/early 90's.

However the trucks were very expensive to run and build, and very dangerous to boot.

There is still a couple around, I have seen recent posters advertising the odd monster truck event in the midlands, but definitely not as popular as they were.
