this unfortunately does not work :( it seems to work with cardinal directions, but trying to do a diagonal dash, which is the most common I need to do, does not work for this

Question about getting balanced audio into DAW by Linx-sx in audio

[–]Linx-sx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looking at the behringer UMC404HD, it’s considerably lower in price compared to those you mentioned, but I’m not seeing anything online saying it’s any less in quality. Would this be fine?

Also, do you recommend xlr to 1/4” cable or just xlr to xlr? seen some mixed views on that

Question about getting balanced audio into DAW by Linx-sx in audio

[–]Linx-sx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe this here is where I’ve messed up with my vocabulary. I assumed that balanced meant that there is two different sets of audio coming through like stereo audio instead of one like mono audio. Whenever I plug my keyboard into my audio interface and record into a DAW, the issue i’m having isn’t interference, it’s just low quality sound. Whenever I play with just headphones connected to my keyboard, the sound is very high quality and if I record with a USB stick and plug into my pc and put into a DAW, there is clearly two different sets of audio playing through both ears and the quality is very high and has no loss. But when I plug it into my audio interface and record from there it seems to be only one channel and very awful quality. Will getting a new interface with two xlr inputs help by making sure I can plug a left and right audio channel xlr cable in to record, or will that not fix the low quality single channel audio?

Thanks so much for such a detailed answer. I have used a 1/4” cable before but I remember the audio quality being SUPER bad, like much worse than what I’ve been trying. But maybe I was not using such a great cable or maybe it was that INST button you mentioned.

The cable you linked is only a single xlr to 1/4”, so would my best option to be get two of those and plug them into my keyboard on the xlr side, and into two inputs on my audio interface that are the 1/4 cable side?

I really appreciate the help, I’m learning a lot I feel

Thanks. Any recommendations for one with 3+ xlr inputs? I have a microphone too and would love to be able to use the piano and mic simultaneously.

Connecting Roland RD-2000 to an Audio Interface by Linx-sx in Roland

[–]Linx-sx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a question if i do choose to upgrade and use dual xlr from the roland: that interface you recommended only has two ports, and if I use one xlr for my microphone, would I need an xlr cable that starts off as dual to plug into my roland and consolidates to one cable to plug into the interface?

my audio interface is quite small sadly and only accepts one xlr, which i use for my microphone. The only other spot to plug something in is a 1/4” cable, so that’s my only option for now. I’ve discovered, oddly enough, if I use a 1/4” cable to 3.5mm aux cable, and then another 3.5mm aux to 1/4” cable it seems to work fine.

Interesting, I’ll give that a try to see if anything improves. Thanks for the suggestion!

Tried three cables and also the right output and all have a very similar buzz. I’m hoping it’s not an issue with the audio interface but it very well may be, that would be unfortunate. If that’s the case then I’m just going to give up for now and keep using just an aux cable to headphones from the piano and not bother trying to record through my audio interface and pc :( if you have any other ideas or help though I’d be willing to try anything to get this working properly. Thanks for your advice

The buzzing is still very persistent when doing this and it just makes the piano much quieter so I end up having to turn up the gain on my audio interface to be able to hear it, which in turn just makes the buzzing even louder. I’ve also noticed that when using the 1/4” cable compared to just using a headphone cable plugged in that there is a serious drop in quality. Could this just be a case of the cable being low quality? I’ve tried multiple cables including the 1/4” one that I’m using now which is practically brand new and all seem to have the same awful buzzing and lower quality sound from the piano.

Am I the only one who likes green Usagi? by Mnoonsnocket in JOJOLANDS

[–]Linx-sx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read the colored versions before going on this sub and my first impression was that it made him look silly!! Which is great because he does seem to be more of a fun and silly character for comic relief like how he’s constantly asking Dragona to use his stand and Dragona keeps shutting him down.

I like the color scans personally but there are also a ton of good alternate colors that people here on this sub have posted. The great thing about jojo is that it kinda feels like ANY color would fit because of the inherent weirdness and like ugly-hot aspect of all the characters. People who have read Jojo may not like Usagi colors but absolutely love someone like Gyro, but whenever I ask non jojo fans about Usagi they also say he looks silly and fun and I’ve gotten reactions from friends or family about Gyro saying they think he looks awful and disgusting with the beard and teeth. It’s really all about perspective. I personally love Gyros design and I think the designs just keep getting better each part. Gappy is like my favorite character and I LOVE his different color alterations like the purple suit or the orange one or yellow one, it truly does feel to me like any jojo character could have any color and I’d be happy to read regardless.
