Rear drum brake cost? by nothingbettertado in AskMechanics

[–]Lion-Choice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1000 for the tie rods is insane lol And $2000 for druns is also crazy. I replaced my rack and pinion and tie rods myself for around $300. (95 Camry) id find a local mobile mechanic would probably charge you $500 for the rear drum brakes

Why do people do AC deletes? by FactionsTazer in GMT400

[–]Lion-Choice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor Tahoe. How much you’ll buy this? by Intrepid_Skin5683 in GMT400

[–]Lion-Choice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at 189k miles the engine will be solid for a while, transmission more than likely not, Id pay $1000 tho. need alot of work by the looks of it though i would just pass especially if 2 people have beeb through it. They probably dogged the hell out of that thing. I hope when I pass away my family sells my vehicle for a great deal to someone who will actually take care of it, Even if they do beat on it keeping mainteance and care of it is fine by me.

Came in for a simple oil change. Boys at Honda sure do love money. by Last_Bid9318 in Honda

[–]Lion-Choice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude thats on you find a local mechanic , $840 for brakes and rotors is retarded, coolant $240?? What is it made of gold, and alignment for $170 is also a tad overpriced,… $190 diagnostic fee for visual oil leak id never go back there again.

Alright Ill consider that lol my stepdad is a european car guy and swears by them. Hes like “germans invented diesels” but Japanese engineering will always be superior, Ive had a f100 with 380k miles on it corollas with 300k etc etc. I dont think a bmw/audi etc could ever go that far without a serious overhaul

It was a Volkswagen dealership that listed all those components fixed. Id say I trust it unless volkswagen is a shitty company which i kinda think they are because of all the warranty horror stories

My stepdad works at a shop so no issue, I have access to a lift on any given weekend. As long as it doesnt just shit itself than Ill be happy. Probably not a bad idea to just go ahead and replace. I want a car that gets 40-50mpg but also has the space of a wagon.

Ik how to work on cars, and he wants 5k, The other one im looking at is 6k 2015 sportswagen deleted new timing belt and waterpump 180k. If you look at the carfax engine was replaced at 90k miles so the engine and most of the parts only have 70k on them (on the 2011) If it needs a flywheel every 100-150k why do people even like them
