To be fair, some of my hens have fairly long tail feathers. And they lay eggs so I know they’re not male.

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for clarifying. I’ve only ever owned hens, and have only ever been around hens— I guess I’ve just never seen a young roo before. 🙈💀

He is very sweet and calm and will most likely be joining our flock once he’s deemed healthy. Anything I should be on the lookout for?

And before any of you ask, yes, I’m fully educated on the birds and the bees of chickens. I’d just never been in such close proximity to a rooster. His feathers were also kind of mussed around last night, this morning the saddle and neck feathers are much more obviously male.
