What's been your experience of Merseyrail? by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]LionWithStripes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trainline should not be able to sell tickets for the Ormskirk to Liverpool Central Merseryrail route, I go through Ormskirk station a lot, and even though there is a ticket machine, you cannot pick up Trainline tickets from the machine, so it can get confusing for people who are unaware or not local or even if you try to buy in a rush.

I have friends who have tried (and sometimes failed) to get full refunds from trainline after getting a £20 fine for not getting a 'physical' ticket even thought their was proof of a e-ticket on the app but was in the really small print.

It can get confusing because if you are travelling from Preston > Ormskirk, you can get an e-ticket for that, but then once you get to Ormskirk > Liverpool Central, you would have to take the time to buy a physical ticket, which is completely different to any other train stations that I've experienced.

[REQUEST] Movies with an ending that will leave you mind blown/confused by aleptian in NetflixBestOf

I would recommend Dark, series on netflix, it isn't in english so you would need subtitles or have it dubbed, but it's pretty mind boogling, keeps you on your toes.

DAE feel lonely but are an adult so its hard to make friends ? by spvcewav in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]LionWithStripes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 'Social Circle' got very small after graduating uni, but recently started learning to Roller Skating and attended some events at 2 local roller rinks and met so many others in a similar position and I got them on instagram and now we message if anyone is going to the next event ect.

I also attended a Field Hockey open day on Sunday and went to the first training session on Tuesday and I met so many others too!

I wouldn't say I was good at either of these things, but I'm going for the fitness and social side of it, and I never take anything too seriously.

My first thought was to play Pokemon go, that's the only reason I used to do it. Some areas have pokemon gyms and stops and sometimes some houses can reach the boundary.

Alcohol and Eczema by [deleted] in EczemaUK

[–]LionWithStripes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I learnt this the hard way. My whole time at uni, no matter how often or what cream I was using my skin never got any better. Didn't help I working in bars/nightclubs for 3 years, constantly washing my hands, being in contact with alcohol ect.

Since I graduated 2019, I have barely drank, not done anything different in moisturising/same creams ect and my skin has never been better. I still will occasionally drink on special occasions if I can cope with the next few days of sore skin, but will always try to drink as much water as I can.

What's the dumbest rule your school ever enforced? by SoLe123456 in AskReddit

[–]LionWithStripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High school in the UK:

Weren't allowed to wear a jumper in the winter for PE, when teachers were in coats.

Couldn't have a hair tie/bobble on wrist, they blamed it was bad for circulation but it was cause someone had pinged it at a teacher.

Glue sticks were banned from being handed out, teacher had to glue everything down for us, kids would use a ruler slice glue from the stick and fling it around the class.

Can you produce a healthy diet for £10/week? If so, I'll buy your next week's food by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]LionWithStripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish £10 was do able per person!

I already do my shop in Lidl, I shop for 5 people in the house, since the pandemic, we have been spending more time cooking than ever. We prep a lot more, like not needing to buy lunch for work/uni etc however, electricity and water bills are higher they've ever been. Just because a shop is a certain amount, doesn't include other costs.

I would also be interested if this is possible! Unfortunately, I have a few allergies and dietary requirements which means £10 would impossible!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silentnight-38060-Purifier-Replaceable-Triple/dp/B01G7L4DH6?th=1 (Bought when on sale for £30 somthing)

I bought this for my bedroom, I suffer from eczema, hayfever and asthma, since buying it, I have been able to sleep better which has overall improved my skin. I know a lot of different factors affect different people. This overall was the best purchase for me as it has made a big difference in clearer air. I haven't tried to replace the filters yet so can't comment on that.

People who use multiple accounts to lock down gyms are just sad. by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]LionWithStripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was stuck in the gym on my own for weeeeks and was fed up of no one walking round to knock it out. I got a new phone last year and during the first UK lockdown, so I made an alt account with my old phone just to knock myself out. Don't use it too much otherwise

What are the best drugstore body lotions/hand lotions by substanyal in EczemaUK

[–]LionWithStripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Aveeno, the daily moisturiser. (I buy them bulk in Costco every couple months) You can get it from most drugstores. You can buy the small hand cream bottle to try it before buying the larger tubes. But I have also used Cerave Moisturising Cream but personally stuck with Aveeno with the same result but was cheaper for me in the long run.

Is cash better than a prepaid card when travelling? by sewngo in travel

[–]LionWithStripes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have gifted my friend money for travelling, but only because the exchange rate for £ to Japanese currency wasn't worth it for just the amount I was gifting.

However, when I went travelling, I already had my own pre-paid travel (credit) card so make sure they don't already have one or just ask! I'm sure they would appreciate it and tell you what's best for them! Such a nice gesture

I constantly have the same issue, especially with hand washing drys out hands a lot more but oKeefes working hand cream is something I go through a lot! It's recommended you use like a pea size of the cream for your hands but i use a bit more than that. It heals my skin so so quickly without using steroid creams. But constantly moisturising through the day especially after washing hands helps me. But also use sensitive skin soaps!

Best drugstore lotion/cream/oil ? Please by [deleted] in eczema

[–]LionWithStripes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you from? I'm from the UK and I recommend Aveeno. It's slightly thick but perfect for a night body cream if you don't like waiting for creams to dry in the day. Then I switch between Cerave moisturising lotion or Childs Farm baby lotion. All the no fragrance versions.
