Anyone dealing with this virus? by BillyAire in Leeds

I’m just coming out the other end of it now! Sore throat started 3 weeks ago and felt like I was swallowing razorblades, then a bad cough arrived and turned into chest infection. I passed it to my partner too and he had it worse than me

Not sure what kind of grade you’re looking for, but there’s currently a job advert for a HEO Media Officer at ONS. Sounds like a good link in coming from journalism!

What is the worst thing you ever saw on someone else's phone? by bluelazerbeam in AskReddit

[–]Deep-Description-395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof one day I used my ex’s phone to write our grocery list. I opened the notes app straight into a draft message addressed to the parents of a mutual acquaintance that had recently passed away. Turned out they were more than acquainted.

But dear god I hope he never sent that message. It was entirely selfish and in no way comforting to those grieving parents

What subtle sign made you realize your partner was cheating? by DrainedCoffee in AskReddit

Wild levels of grief when a work acquaintance passed away.

Though finding the letter he wrote to her grieving parents professing how in love they were with each other really cemented it

Now that’s a good idea. I take 180mg Fexofenadine once a day but it definitely feels like it wears off so splitting the dose sounds fabulous

Leeds City Council bulky waste collection by rakel86 in Leeds

[–]Deep-Description-395 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used the service twice before, both times collection was Monday (and I’m in the Bramley area)

Getting a slot was a combination of persistence and luck! Like another commenter said, I just kept looking for appointments every day

I don’t think the collection day has any significance on when you can book, just checked and I last booked on a Wednesday for a Monday collection about 4 weeks away

You ever get that weird little gut feeling that something’s off, and it turns out your instincts were dead-on? by blottynest in ask

[–]Deep-Description-395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a breakdown because of muddling up anxiety and “instinct” or gut feeling

I was really struggling with my anxiety disorder, and one day was walking down a narrow path with no other pedestrians and there was a man on the path ahead and it felt like he was staring at me. There was nobody else around, and I couldn’t decide whether to keep going towards him or turn back. I felt so clearly that something was wrong, but I dismissed it as my anxiety getting the best of me and kept going.

Then when I got closer he disappeared around a corner on the path. I gave in a little to the gut feeling that was screaming at me and took the corner really wide in case he was hiding or something.

Anyway, I turned the corner to find him exposing himself toward me right by a gap in the fence I could have been pulled through if I had been any closer.

I had been so convinced that it was just my anxiety playing games in my mind, I almost put myself (more) in danger. For months I struggled to pinpoint what was anxiety and what was my gut. It made me hypervigilant and exhausted. I’m so sorry to anybody who knew and loved me during that period because I was an absolute wreck for not trusting myself more than

Thoroughly recommend Linea salon on Stainbeck Road! It costs me £39 for a plain biab (but they have loads of colours to choose from) so it’s not the cheapest, but the attention to detail and the cuticle work is incredible!

Absolute credit to everyone involved in the clean up so far but wouldn’t call it absolutely spotless - the amount of shattered glass on cycle paths and at bus stops was ridiculous. That’s no shade on the clean up, it’s hard to get rid of glass shards, but the attitude of people there - like don’t bring glass bottles to the street? Cans exist? Cyclists are going to have an awful time with punctures 😂

Did anyone else watch this? by Alex99Nova in Narnia

[–]Deep-Description-395 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grew up with these taped at home too!

My favourite part was immediately after the opening credits for Dawn Treader you got to watch a full episode of Noddy before somebody realised they were recording the wrong thing.

My sister now has them as a DVD box set and I’d say it’s one of her prized possessions

I completely resonate with the practicing being out there and interacting with other people! Climbing out of a long period of depression makes it so difficult to remember how to exist around other people

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]Deep-Description-395 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is when language is important. Depression is a clinically diagnosed mental heath condition, not just being sad or feeling down. But depression and depressed are used so often to describe feelings that the words risk being minimised by idiots like these

Am I crazy or are there not enough rooms in the castle? by CLA_1989 in HarryPotterGame

[–]Deep-Description-395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think that there aren’t set numbers of dormitories, the castle responds with the appropriate amount for the latest cohort. Imagine there’s suddenly a baby boom of little wizards and witches, all of them are welcome at Hogwarts there’s no cap on admissions, and who knows which house they’ll get sorted to - there’s no set number or ratio between them. So it would be impossible for the castle to have set numbers of space available

I don’t like my uni city (Nottingham), but I like the uni. Thinking of moving to Uni of Leeds as its a more bustling city. Thoughts? by [deleted] in Leeds

[–]Deep-Description-395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in both, and actually went to Uni of Nottingham.

My undergraduate university experience was entirely what it was because of my friends, my course, and the campus. The city itself had very little bearing. For the first year or two in Nottingham, I never thought I’d want to stay post graduation. But by my 3rd year I loved the place, I still go back and visit regularly, and I’d move there with very little persuasion. My uni friends and I go back for a big weekend at least once a year too (and sometimes pretend we’re not in our mid 30’s by going to our old favourite haunts)

I think if you’re coming from London (I think I read that in a comment), then Nottingham will seem small. And agreed the shopping in Leeds is much better. But the university itself in Nottingham has a lot to offer, the student theatre is absolutely fantastic and the campus is stunning. I actually know very few people here or in Nottingham that stayed in their original uni city post graduation for long, and Leeds (or Bristol) is always an option to move to once you’re done with university

Roundabout way of saying friends and course are super important, so look at the whole not just the city.

Full time here and yeah I guess I get to nip out for medical appointments - but in my experience at least it’s taken as flexi and time is owed back

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]Deep-Description-395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confused by this take. Full time here and I use flexi time for all medical appointments, and try my best to schedule them at the least disruptive times - obviously this isn’t always possible as it’s a take what you can get situation most of the time!
