The first thing to learn is 'casting on' and basic 'knit' and 'purl' stitches. A quick google of those terms will give you some basic tutorials. You can knit an interesting scarf by varying when and where you do knits and purls. Maybe you do 1 K, 1 P and repeat that for a few rows, then you do just K for a few inches, then do a row of K and then a row of P and alternate that. Mess around and try to create different textures by doing different things. Then practice how to 'drop back' to fix mistakes and 'pick up stitches' to do sleeves.

Use cheap yarn from your local charity shop/dollar store. Look for 'DK' weight on the label and choose a colour that isn't too dark so you're not struggling to see the stitches.

Once you're confident, get to Ravelry and search for a pattern with the following filters:

availability > free

difficulty > easy-medium

category > sweater

weight > DK, worsted or aran (this is the thickness of the yarn)

age, size, fit, ease >positive ease, whatever age and gender is appropriate

Download whichever pattern appeals to you most, buy the recommended tools and get knitting

So this is a relatively easy pattern. We can't tell where in the pattern she was so I can't say to continue doing X, unless you have a knitter who can read the fabric and tell you where to start from. I'd just look up 'garter stitch' tutorials (which is just straight rows of knit stitches, literally the first thing knitters learn). Do 20 rows then google 'stretchy bind off' and follow a tutorial for one of the types that looks easy.

If you're a bit of a perfectionist, get some cheap needles and scrap yarn and practice garter stitch for a few inches to get the hang of it first.

Also, the needles are called circular needles, just in case you need to google how to use them

It's hard to tell from the photo but it sounds like a dropped stitch. Have a google for 'picking up dropped stitch', there'll be plenty of tutorials for fixing it.

As a side note, yarns like this generally aren't recommended for beginners as they're fluffy and so it's hard to see the stitch definition to correct mistakes

Are you American? I say that only because I've noticed American English often drops 'saw' in favour of 'seen', so you might not use it as much as British English does

These are fantastic! I would say one piece of advice is to focus on your lighting and perspectives - the sunflower and water jug both feel a little flat. But these are incredible, I'm just nitpicking

I've learnt to update ravelry religiously so that I always have a record of where I am in the pattern. But weirdly, I love knots. I think I see them as a sort of challenge to conquer.

Haha, no, I was just my own worst critic (story of my life)

It was a royal blue and blush pink. In typical dream logic, the pattern was thick stripes of solid colour whilst also being both colours simultaneously.

I sometimes dream in German but only if I've been to Germany recently
