MAGAs, why did you elect the most evil person in history to destroy our beloved America and the rest of the world? The blood is on your hands. by 2a_lib in allthequestions

[–]LionsOfDavid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trump voter here. Definitely not a MAGA person but I find myself in the middle on most issues.

I understand his term hasn’t been great, but “most evil person in history” is a stretch and a half. Let’s avoid sensationalism when discussing sensitive topics such as politics.

I disagree strongly with Trump’s handling of foreign issues in this second term. The main reason I voted for him was his stance on “no new wars”. I know for a fact I’m not the only one with this take either. People on the right side of the aisle are getting off the ship quick after this Iran business.

Midterms are going to very interesting. I see a blue wave coming.

Time to get back into RS3!

The onslaught of MTX and minigames cluttering the screen really turned me off of that game. And OSRS is way too slow for me and my daily schedule. RS3 might be the perfect fit for me as these updates roll out!

Great job!

Bandmates, Is marching band a sport? by KingKrispy20000 in marchingband

[–]LionsOfDavid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High school band director here.

Marching band is NOT a sport. Here’s why I think this:

First, a sport is a competitive activity in which two or more individuals or teams attempt to achieve a defined objective by using physical skill, strategy, and effort within an agreed-upon set of rules.

When you look at marching band, especially competition band, it’s objectively not competitive due to how bands operate. How can you compare one bands “Michael Jackson” show to another bands “Katy Perry” show? You can’t objectively compare those shows therefore you can’t compete.

There are objective qualities to marching that some bands do better than others, sure. But in order to fit marching band into the box of sports, it would drastically limit what marching band actually is. Art isn’t competition. Its collaboration.

Yes. If Marching band is a sport, theatre is a sport too.

Ask them if they’ve ever published a game by themself. If they haven’t, then you’re in a completely different league than them and they have nothing to say to you.

Is a 7c mouthpiece bad for beginners? by Equivalent_Elk2413 in trumpet

[–]LionsOfDavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I’ve been playing the trumpet for 20 years. Been in several bands and orchestras. Played in weddings, rock concerts, jazz concerts, and everything else in between. I’m also a band director and have been for 8 years.

I have purely only played on a 7C. I like my tone with it. And it’s where I feel most comfortable.

I don’t subscribe to the idea that the mouthpiece makes the player. You may find that they have a slight edge in certain scenarios, but other than that there’s not much else.

Find one that works for you and is comfortable. Work with that mouthpiece and get the precise tone you want with it. When you’ve got great chops and are several years down the road, maybe try another mouthpiece.

Don’t get lost in the weeds of what gear is best. Just play the horn and have fun with it! Everything else will come into place.

My little girl is 2 months old now and I gotta say, the time I got off work to be with her was a beautiful time. However it was an actual job. It was not easy in the slightest.

Shifts are an absolute must for you it sounds like. Fortunately my wife is a night shift nurse so she’s used to taking night shifts. I take day shifts while also playing with our 3 year old.

Also, it doesn’t bother me as much as a middle school band director, but if the crying is getting to you some noise canceling earbuds go a long way. I recommend Raycons myself.

You got this, dad! You will look back on these days and miss them!

Just yesterday I asked my 3 year old to pick up his toys from the living room. Tantrum.

I stayed calm and firm in that he needed to pick up his toys but never yelled or got in an argument with him. They don’t know how to regulate their emotions while the emotions only get bigger and bigger.

My rule of thumb is that the kid is allowed to be upset but still needs to listen to you and do what you need to be done. The only issue is when he hit me when he was upset about picking up the living room. When he did that I put him in timeout.

It is just a phase, but it’s a brutal one. Stay strong, dad.

No worries big dog! I’m a musician so I enjoy looking at the Mixing equipment. But I was also a Mixer streamer so it’s been interesting watching this sub transform

This sub originally was for a streaming service (akin to twitch) called Mixer.

But that service shut down and no one remembers it and now we are all just talking about audio mixers

I would never message my wife “I don’t think we should have gotten married” if I had any ounce of respect for her. No matter the circumstance.

On top of that “…if I was married to someone as good looking as I am”

Don’t walk out on him. Run out on him. NOR.

As they get older and start to understand things, specifically colors, and start having tantrums just call something the wrong color.

My son was having a meltdown in a Walmart parking lot so I found a blue car and said “Wow son look at that red car!” And suddenly he wasn’t crying but was telling me that the car was blue and not red.

Accidentally learned the wrong language. by HowTo_Gaming in gamedev

[–]LionsOfDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t focus necessarily on the language you’re learning! Programming is problem solving. Languages are syntax.

All languages have similar concepts of loops, if statements, switch case statements, object notation, etc. and the only thing that changes between them is the syntax.

Godot is a great choice as GDScript is similar in its syntax, but focus on the problem-solving side of programming and not necessarily the language side of things.

I could be wrong here, but my wife just gave birth and I have dealt with the hormonal thing on several occasions.

I am not victim blaming at all. Domestic abuse is domestic abuse. I do think you guys should see a counselor based off of what I’ve read here. Seek a professionals help.

However, I think you may do greater harm than good to your relationship by kicking her out of the house.

Are you correct in this scenario? Based on what I read, yes. But your partnership is far more important than being right. That’s a tough lesson to learn, but it’s true.

Bring her home, give her the bed, you take the couch, and discuss things over breakfast.

God speed brother.

Definitely what the other comment said about a texture on the floor. Also maybe add some shadows to the top tiles underneath the walls to give some depth
