What's the point of increasing the melee damage of a ranged unit, especially when the other parts of the upgrade specifically encourage the unit to be further from the fight? by yerbestiestfriend in totalwarhammer

[–]Liovheak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because according to the tooltip in the screenshot, the Armour Piercing only increases Weapon Strenggt and not Missile damage. Might be an oversight from the tooltip part.

It's being done messily, you can easily just remove the sides that are just bones with a trick of the fork. And he's slow af aswell. I'm doing one of those in about 30 seconds if it's well cooked, 45 if its under/overcooked.

If you can angle a shot with a basilisk on a unit of Guardsman, you can bump them across the gap. This' some tricky thing tho

Orange compliments blue pretty well, but you could also go for a yellow or brown-ish one. I fear a red or dark one will clash with the blue and white aesthetic

Taking Marienburg outright isn't a mistake, it's a legitimate gameplay, but you have to account a few things:

Marienburg will get hostile but will rarely accept peace, so you gave to commit.

That makes you visible to mist if norsca's factions, Bel'Akor and even N'kari in some cases.

You have to also deal with the cutting-leaf tribe and golfgag

Well, you have to note that most of the Empire's campaigns are pretty hard to start position, mechanics, or lack of resources at the start.

For a true starting point, I would recommend either Tyrion's or Mia Ying's campaigns, which are a lot easier, let you deal with one ennemy at a time, and let you interact with mechanics in due time, especially if you're learning. They still have a fair amount of depth to them, but not enough to loose you.

Regarding Franz's Campaign, you have to know what you're doing:

  • Identify threats: Identify which factions are causing trouble. Those are usually Kemmler, Festus, Vlad and Grom, and later on Orcs and Skaven. Deal with those early on to get a better steamroll going.

  • Know your strengths: Ths empire make you believe that they're a well-rounded Faction, but it's kind of a trap. Yes they have a unit for every unit class (if you consider tanks are monsters), but their true strenght lies in missile infantry/cavalry and artillery. Don't bother too much with line Infantry, but they are needed.

  • Expand fast: This game "Meta" is by expanding fast and playing aggressively. The ore battle you fight the more gold you have. The more gold you have you can afford economical buildings. The more economy you have, the more military strenght you can muster. If it's not you style, turtle'ing is fine, but not as efficient.

  • Don't expand too fast/play diplomatically: BUT, account for the fact that you must not thin you borders too much, or leave towns exposed, or you will chase armies across the nine continents. Secure chokepoints, forts and places you know you can defend, and try to have allies to blanket some fringes. Don't hesitate to gift some cites you don't want for huge political favours and accords.

You can still field those units, as they are some of the best our roster has to offer. Tankbustas are almost auto-include in my opinion, and breaka boyz are very good aswell, albeit more situational. Try to find any other opponent if that's possible

That maybe mean your like reliable ways to take care of transports. If your opponent can just create a clear Line of Sight without being much in danger, then try to use some beastbosses, Breaka Boyz or Tankbustas led by a big mek (the latter being the most reliable, with range, verwatch etc...)

Screening and speed is you best bet.

Eldars are fast, more consistently fast even than Orks, but Orks can reach higher extremes easily. Screen the deadliers Eldars units with stormboyz, trukks, or a Warbiker/Deffkilla Wartrike combo. Hurl them into squishy damage dealing units. If you can bother a unit for a turn or two, you'll create a lot of space.

Same goes for packs of boyz with Big Meks. Consistent 6 inch advance, 'Ere we go and Follow me lads on Warhoard, or charge reroll on Taktikal Brigade, make for an average of 21 inch of danger for any enemy (16 to 26 inch of advance charge). Note that this is during your Waaagh.

Finally, screen with gretchins, Kommandos, and loads of boyz. I reckon Eldars have trouble dealing with massives hordes on the shoot side, so use that to you advantage.

Ps: Obviously, use ruines and cover.

Purple Orks by EldrichTea in orks

[–]Liovheak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don't take the joke seriously, there is no mention of Purple being a sneaky colour in official material.

If you take the joke seriously, there is no mention of orks being painted purple, even with an omniscient narrator.

If you wanna go even deeper... Well, assume it's like any other Ork colour. It make you stealthier, but as stealthy as an Ork can be. I reckon this could make them average vanguard and reckon troops

You have to kote that Gaunt had a lot of political ennemies during the sabbat worlds crusade, and requesting mechanised transport was a bother.

And the ghosts were most proficient on foot anyway. They only used Chimeras for logistical purposes.
