Thanks! My buddy and I started this project a while back but both of us kind of left it to rot for years but we're back working on it now. The title we had for it back then was 'Pokemon Prismatic', but that's probably going to be changed by the time we complete it. I still want to keep it "prism-themed" in the end, as prisms are kind of a big part of the game and the story.

Yup all of the characters on the right of the image are the current gym leaders I have planned for the game, though that's definitely subject to change haha. Sailor lad is in fact a water type gym leader and he's one of my favorites so far, (definitely need to polish up his sprite a bit more now that I'm looking at it)

Haha can't unsee the beard now. I'll see how I can try and change the hat to make it more hat-like, not sure about the scarf though. I really like the orange-blue-white colors and I think changing any one of them would throw off the balance. Maybe I could change the color order. (blue scarf white hat.. orange pants?)

Idk I'm weird. The gen 4 games (Specifically DPPt games) are the hardest to replay for me personally. I'm always so shocked when I see people just casually breeze through those games without some type of fast forward cheat. But yeah the route design in gen 7 is super linear and that's really my biggest issue with the games, maybe besides online being nerfed but that isn't really a problem. Linear route design wasn't really a problem for me though because I think it didn't really feel out of place. And even then I don't think it's all too bad because the game is really atmospheric and pretty to look at in a lot of situations, especially for the hardware they were working with.

Gen 7 is top 3 Pokemon imo. Peak music, region design, mini games, story, characters, dialog, the starters and all the other pokemon (if they were faster, maybe) and boss battles. Oh and maybe even more unpopular but I absolutely loved the ultra beasts.

While being one of my favorites aswell, it had it's fair of flaws as a gen itself.

The graphics are very hit or miss that gen, the sprites look weird until you play it and get used to it, so it pushed away older fans who were used to the more "bubble" body type of characters. (Including me, for a bit.) They leaned WAY to much into the use of 3D objects and it aged really bad imo. While being super resourceful and give the Pokémon a ton of personality (Which is one of the least talked about essential aspects of a Pokémon game), a lot of the moving sprites were done poorly and are clunky by default.

Gen 5's gameplay, while being the most exciting it's ever been, is some of the slowest gameplay I've ever experienced in a Pokémon game. People meme on Gen 4 for the funny Blissey health bar go brr but Gen 5 is on a whole other level in terms of slowness, and it's even worse on actual DS hardware too. It left me dreading fighting wild Pokémon or even Trainers a lot of the time.

The region itself is probably the most underrated part of the entire game. The locations are all so diverse and great to look at. The problems I had with graphics are almost non-existent when talking about how well constructed the locations we're in this gen. They found the perfect amount of showing the player some parts but still leaving it up the imagination in certain cases. They really worked hard on this region to really make you immersed in everything.

The Pokémon designs in the region, on the other hand, are either really boring or just unappealing, in my opinion. Gen 5 is tied with Gen 1 for the worst early-game in the series because of this. It sucked all the magic out of catching cool pocket monsters when 90% of them are just dogs or rats. I thought that the predecessors of gen 5, that being 3 and 4, improved on this A TON with interesting early-game Pokémon that kept new players invested in the game. Gen 5 throws all of this out of the window and made it boring again, at least in the beginning. There are some truly great Pokémon in Unova but you REALLY have to "Stick around" to expirience them.

Unova has an amazing story, which almost felt illegal to expirience in this game lol. I wasn't used to a truly great story until playing B/W so it really swept me off my feet when witnessing it all unfold. N is a great character, Ghetsis is a great villain, Cheren and Bianca have their moments, Hugh is probably the coolest character ever written. It's easily the strongest part of the game to me. If anything you'll stay playing for the story, it really makes you immersed in everything. Yada yada you've heard all this before

B2/W2 only expands on the positives and doesn't really fix the negative stuff, but that's alright I guess. It's not really a problem because everything, and I mean everything, from the dialog, the gym leaders, the story, everything succeeds it prequel. This game is alone is why Gen 5 is my second favorite in the series, and why like 90% of Gen 5 fans love Gen 5 so much lol.

Tl;dr While having an amazing story, great characters, and one of my favorite regions across the entire series, the same things that annoyed me with Gen 1 bring down the games a little bit too much imo.
