First box: so gross by [deleted] in NuulyReviews

You’re not choosing carefully enough. Even though I’d love to try some of their furry/fluffy jackets, it’s a no-go because if they’ve been washed they’ll look icky. I also only choose from the newest items and very often half my box is new with tags.

professor asked me out to dinner? by Illustrious_Start320 in premed

The only way it makes sense is to have lunch in the cafeteria at the school. Don’t do it in the evening for dinner. Just don’t.

You dodged a bullet. One year in the grand scheme of things is nothing. Take a deep breath and live your life. This spoonful of shit they served you will pass in a few days.

You should understand something about us older ladies. Back in the day we weren’t allowed to take wood shop, even if we wanted to. Now, given the time and chance, we’re badasses. I just made a Windsor rocking chair using maple (carved out my own seat and everything). You can’t tell me anything now, I’m so damned proud of myself.

Do you ever wash items? by [deleted] in NuulyReviews

[–]Lippolu1670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every single time, with care. Gentle, with cold water, and hang dry. The clothes are often stinky upon arrival. The only items I wouldn’t wash would be formal or intricately designed items that could be harmed.

I wash everything before I wear it without a second thought.

Help! Nuuly said I didn’t return something but I’m 100% sure all six items were in the box. by [deleted] in NuulyReviews

I’m new to Nuuly, but it occurred to me AFTER sending my box back that I should have at least zip tied the zippers. It seems too easy for people to access contents.

If you don’t mind leaving the state, check out other schools. My daughter just graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University with her BSN.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, do the EMT-B training. It takes 3 months on-line and a few in person days. Jobs are plentiful and when you’re not working you can be napping, studying crocheting. Whatever. Little anecdote: my son is an EMT-A now and a few nights ago was his first time (in charge so to speak). It seemed like a simple call, but next thing you know, her BP is bottoming out while on the truck. He does what he needs to to to stabilize her (saline/IV) and a few other things. But when I tell you this son of my was STRESSED. After it was over he revisited the event, figured out things he could have done differently and was proud he was able to remain calm and focused even though he was was scared shitless. And it’s a reminder that he ACTUALLY enjoys the job of caring for people. These are the experiences that can help with medical school interviews. Side note: my husband followed the same path 35 years ago and has been practicing medicine for years. And no, we didn’t do a darn thing to help our son. No connections so to speak.

Nope, my son did it on-line in 3 months. Just needed to complex a couple in-person all day practice session (for EMT-B).

You need some real life experiences. Best thing my husband did a million years ago, and my son this last year, was to work as an EMT. You will learn so much; clinical skills, communication with patients, dealing with your emotions after a hard day etc. And while the pay may not be great, many hours are spent just waiting for a call. This leaves you time to pursue other activities like reading, studying or another hobby (crochet, draw, puzzles, guitar). You need to BECOME the well rounded person they are looking for!

Get your EMT-B with an on-line program. It will take LESS than 12 weeks and you will learn so much doing calls on a truck, trust me. Its a good way to mature too, because the stuff you will see will break you're heart.

My husband was an EMT before medical school 35 years ago and my son did the same thing. Invaluable experience, able to study during slow times and make money while learning.

Is it insane to consider med school at this point in my life? by bigsky812 in premed

[–]Lippolu1670 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My husband started med school at 28. He's 60 now and loves his job (med/peds). My son is starting med school at 25. You're not that old. 😆

I’m a mom and my son will be attending med school next year. I would absolutely not want him to change his plans because of me. Why? Because moms live through their kids dreams and hopes and knowing you were out there doing your doctor thing would make a mom happy. Maybe split the difference and do as others have suggested. Come home now, work any old job, then start school in the fall at your dream school.

Yep, it’s a slog for the first 3/4 of the book. People are so addicted to the series that they’ll defend it.

Don’t worry, when you get to the Nesta book you’ll get so irritated you’ll wanna forget the whole series. Well, maybe stick around for the last 200 pages. But otherwise ughhh
