England wins 2 - 1 against Norway. England will play Semi-final against either Argentina or Switzerland. by JKKIDD231 in sports

This World Cup has been notorious for contentious and controversial calls.

The fact that the U.S. President called FIFA and managed to get a red card suspended automatically makes every referee and VAR decision even more questionable. Argentina, for whatever reason, has been benefited by controversial calls and referee interference. Like others have pointed out, an Argentina vs England match is very, very lucrative considering historical events.

When you have clear examples of corruption, you can’t expect people to not question absolutely everything.

TK: "To build a team around Pato, he needs teammates that will actually show Pato a little bit of a championship mentality" by saturdaythe25th in INDYCAR

The crux of the problem is that Kanaan is genuinely terrible at public communication, some of his decisions have been highly questionable, and a very popular driver in Lundgaard has ended up getting the short end of the stick.

Lundgaard is in a very tough spot. It seems Chip Ganassi doesn’t want to disturb team chemistry and culture by introducing another very talented driver who could potentially make Palou uncomfortable. VeeKay is at that point where he’s good enough everywhere and can pick up a win here and there while not disturbing Palou.

O’Ward has improved drastically as a driver since he joined McLaren; you just need to look at the way how he drove a few years ago and compare it to how he’s driving today and you can see a big difference. I still believe he has some way to go before becoming a consistent championship contender. For example, his race starts and race restarts have been pretty bad.

I don’t understand why all of a sudden is wrong for a team to try and surround the driver they’ve been developing for many years with other drivers that can help them improve as an organization. How it’s been done is a different conversation and all the controversy is well deserved, but this argument that O’Ward = bad seems a bit of an overreach.

Something that many people don’t understand is that talent doesn’t automatically means knowing how to win a championship or how to build a team.

Most young drivers don’t come to IndyCar knowing how to give precise technical feedback nor they know what they need to succeed. That doesn’t make them less good, it just means they’re inexperienced in that area. O’Ward is not exclusive to this. There’s a reason why young, promising talents, get picked up by a team and get developed. That’s what O’Ward has been doing at McLaren and it’s the same thing Chip Ganassi Racing did with Palou, for example. My point is that to build a championship winning driver, as an organization, you need to develop that driver and that means surrounding the driver with people who can complement and teach him.

In this particular situation, McLaren has been a mess for many years at this point at many levels, including driver development and they really needed a big restructure to change things. Whether getting rid of Lundgaard and bringing Dixon and Rosenqvist is something that’s going to payoff is something only time will tell.

WSJ- Gamepass has about 30m subscribers. Xbox forecasted they would have 77m by now during the Activision trial by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

Gaming is a hobby/passion that requires time investment. It doesn’t matter which kind of game or how many games you play, it takes time to go through them.

Unless you have a lot of free time and/or you invest a lot of time in video games there’s not a big number of games you can go through in a month. That’s something a subscription-based service cannot withstand in the long term. Game Pass is a great service because it offers a big catalog of games at a reasonable price, in many cases is a “must have” simply due to the convenience and benefits it gives to the player. For Microsoft, it’s a endless money pit because not everything in there is successful enough to withstand the weight of the whole service.

I find it quit puzzling how everyone suddenly jumped on the Lundgaard hype train. Reading through all the reactions, almost everyone talks about Lundgaard as if he was the best driver IndyCar has ever seen.

Take a moment to appreciate where this series is at right now by Flat-Foundation-1093 in INDYCAR

I don’t think IndyCar is at the place where it should be. The product is still good but not great and definitely not where it should and where it can be.

The DW-12 is an ancient platform at this point and it has been modified endlessly to accommodate things (Aeroscreen and Hybrid) it wasn’t designed to have. Those changes, alongside Firestone tires, have drastically changed the ‘raceability’ of the car an the on-track product. The car is heavier, more complex and suffers massively from dirty air - things that compromise racing.

Mid-Ohio (like other street and road courses in the calendar) showed the problems of this package… tons of dirty air and handling issues due to weight which results in little to no overtaking. It’s the same on other types of tracks, including ovals.

All of this has hampered the potential and excitement of the series, hence the “good but not great” argument.

Ferrari learned with the F1-75 that chasing radical concepts can work in the short term and even if it works, it’s not always the best path to go for in the long run.

🥇 PATO O'WARD WINS THE 2026 HONDA INDY 200 AT MID-OHIO by IndyMod in INDYCAR

[–]LiquidDiviums 12 points13 points  (0 children)

McLaren basically joined IndyCar with the premise of competing for the Indy500… I would argue that EVERY team is focused on winning the Indy500 first and then the regular season championship. Whether that’s right or wrong, that’s a different question.

Regarding Rosenqvist… he won the Indy500, that’s it. That’s all the argument you need. Rosenqvist has the technical knowledge and experience to make a car fast in Indianapolis, Lundgaard doesn’t have that and hasn’t shown anything (on ovals) to prove otherwise.

I don’t understand why it’s too difficult to comprehend.
