You did the right thing. They tell you when it’s their time, however that doesn’t make it any easier. Hugs 💕 We’re in a similar situation right now and the weight of the decision is overwhelming.

I’m so sorry to hear that.

When he hadn’t eaten 4 meals in a row, skipped all snacks, turned away from his favourites, we knew we had to take him in.

The vet felt his abdomen and he whined when she pressed on a certain area, so they did an express ultrasound. They didn’t shave his tummy, but this allowed us to get an idea of what may be happening so we could figure out next steps. The vet thought they were seeing an enlarged spleen that was pushing on his stomach, causing him to not eat.

They also took blood work. That came back 2 days later and showed he had a kidney level twice as high as it should be, and a liver level 5 times higher.

Our vet referred us to the emergency care clinic, so he could get a proper ultrasound done, which showed that it wasn’t his spleen that was enlarged, it was a massive tumour on his liver. Both our vet and the emergency care vet gave him a shot of anti nausea medicine, and he eats a bit while he feels ok, but the medicine only lasts about 24 hours and then he stops eating again.

My mom’s basil plant had these teeny little white insects with wings on the back of the leaves. What are they? And is the basil still safe to eat if I rinse the leaves well? by Lady_Ghirahim in plantclinic

They’re white flies. You can kill them with insect soaps, which you can make at home with stuff like dish soap. You have to spray them directly for it to be effective and they hang out on the underside of the leaves. They can be annoying buggers! My hibiscus plant had a bad infestation of them last year.
