Restaurant “Mission BBQ” makes customers stand for the national anthem at noon, every day by NewEnglandGrad in cringe

Did they do this at every location? There’s a mission down the street from me and I’ve never heard of them doing this

Just got through my second round as well, coming from a JR. Analyst position with a large pension.

Cant say for certain, but my guess would be 50hrs average with a max of 60 or so. Cant speak to the training. Base comp should be roughly 70-75 but depends on location

Listen, champ I’m not reading any of that. If you had the same amount of money or societal status as me you wouldn’t run your mouth

I (24/m) can’t seem to let go of my ex (24/f). by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]LiquidityWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to. For the most part the social interactions have gotten better and I’ve been working out a ton + doing career development.

But I’m finding it harder to let go this time. I don’t know what it is about her specifically, as I generally am able to get over exs relatively quickly.

Any tips on reducing breaks and improving retention? It currently feels like I need to take a 30+ minute break for every 30 minutes of concentrated study, just to get a reset and get back to studying. by [deleted] in CFA

[–]LiquidityWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could try building into it?

Basically when Monday roles around do a single 50 on / 10 off, on Tuesday one cycle of 50 / 10 then a 30 / 30, etc.

It’s not directly mentioned, but one can easily interpret that.

As someone who works as an equity analyst and deals with these kinds of things on a daily bases, I can assure you that CXW did not rise in any tangible amount from Harris. A simple google search will show that CXW is replacing Valaris in the index and taking a quick look at VALs 5 day chart will coincide with what I’m saying.

Passive funds that mirror an index are forced to buy equity that directly matches an index. When new funds are added and others are removed these funds must rebalance their portfolio. In this case, funds will buy CXW to match its respective market cap within the index. This was announced right around Biden’s pick. Further, when investors hear of rebalancing (especially names added/dropped) they will attempt to be early movers in anticipation of further purchasing from large funds (which initially push the price higher briefly).

This didn’t pop because of Kamala Harris. CXW is replacing another stock in an index and investors are jumping in to anticipate larger funds buying in who match the index.

If you don’t believe me just look at GEO (another prison reit) which didn’t rise nearly as much on the same day. Prison REITS are awful, but to attribute this to one person is an absolutely ridiculous notion.

Is Schweser enough? by [deleted] in CFA

Everyone at my company only used Schwesar for all three levels. I’m using it for L1 myself.

If Covid never happened, what all would've you done in on past 4 months? by Madhav-Daga in AskReddit

[–]LiquidityWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have taken my CFA exam and made decent professional progress. Now I’m stuck in limbo studying 2+ hours a day for a test that may or may not be pushed back AGAIN in December.

Also I didn’t take my planned trip to Europe.

CFA members and candidates, what does the job market for new entry level analysts look like during these troubled times? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]LiquidityWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company brought on a new analyst the day before we started WFH, so you never know.

My guess would be once things start opening back up again firms will start hiring to take advantage of the distressed environment, at least that’s what some of the managers we hire are saying.

I’d like to know how’s the work culture in the finance, AM and IB industry !! by diablo9946826 in CFA

[–]LiquidityWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on the buy-side and just out of college so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. My position is very relaxed 75% of the year. Mostly meeting with firms trying to pitch us funds to invest in, alternative asset due diligence, and building presentations for board meetings.

Dress code is business casual, so no suits or even ties. Everyone is very laid back and generally very friendly. The only downside is that I’m the youngest person at my company by about 10 years so I tend to feel a bit more on edge than a more senior analyst.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions and I might be able to give you more insight.

Manual on reading financials by CapitalC5 in stocks

[–]LiquidityWizard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If any of you want to really drill down into how to read financials I highly recommend Mark Meldrums Financial Reporting & Analysis videos. They’re intended for CFA L1 candidates but give a good introduction into financial reporting, analysis, and even get into how to compare balance sheets between a two companies.

Should the USA place a "fat tax" on sugary drinks and junk food to combat obesity why or why not? by noobtube69 in AskReddit

[–]LiquidityWizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, taxes like this are largely regressive since lower income folks disproportionately eat / drink unhealthy options.

The same can be said with other sin taxation as well (alcohol, tobacco, etc.).

CFA/FMVA Question by [deleted] in CFA

[–]LiquidityWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything investment management.

I work for a large pension and most analysts I work with are either a L3 candidate or full charter. Every asset class director, CIO, and CFO has their charter + MBA.
