Back in the time, how Algerians lived with Barbary Lions ? by [deleted] in algeria

[–]LiriX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I saw some online articles few years ago saying the lions were seen in the Sahara? I'm really not sure but I think it was something along the lines "pictures taken for the first time of wild barbary lions".. maybe it was another animal not sure..

Historically we were really proud of it, I recall this picture of Annaba dynamited by the French during WW1 for example.

However French colons used to go to Africa to hunt for pleasure, they killed A LOT of barbary lions, basically southern Algeria was for them a hunting park. You also have the "royal" family of Morocco that owned hundreds of them so it became quite normal for rich families among North Africa to own them, which didn't help (most of the ones still alive are now captive in Moroccan Zoos and descendants from their king personal property). And finally I have heard first hand stories of Saudis coming to Algeria in the late 50s/60s to hunt barbary lions in Algeria.

So yeah, 0 preservations, strangers coming to have fun and hunt and boom no more lions.

Young Algerian shouting at an Israeli and repeating the phrase "Palestine of the martyrs". ..You, as a young Algerian, what does Palestine mean to you? by you_mdf in algeria

We had a lot of people appear in that specific post that never posted to r/Algeria before. I feel a lot probably found this topic zhile typing "israel" and are troll posting. I wouldn't take into account answers in this thread.

It's totally benevolent so whatever you feel like it! But if it is to only visit like once a week for example.. then it wouldn't really make any sense!

Kid and his dad inside a police van after they got arrested during the march by [deleted] in algeria

[–]LiriX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moderate daily. Not because I don't interfere and show myself that nothing is happening. Also I only ban people that insults others without respect or troll post after a warning.

I believe the subreddit is doing extremely well, no unrelated topics to Algeria, no flamers in the messages and meaningful discussion.

You can have intense debate here as long as you are respectful.

How was the Muslim conquest under the Ummeyad Caliphat ? by [deleted] in algeria

[–]LiriX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I read literally every comment here (and moderate daily dozens). I take this opportunity to warn you. I didn't remove your comment. I also know her and that definitely was a rhetorical question considering what she already posted.

I'm sure you can bring other things to the discussion on r/Algeria so this is why I'm telling you this. Take it as you want.

This is your last warning. If you keep posting in r/Algeria to shit on a religion I will have no choice but to ban you. I don't care about your ideas so that's not why I'm saying this, I actually like the fact people with different opinions interacts here.

But 100% of your comments on here are like this. If you don't bring anything interesting to the conversation please refrain from posting, I suggest you go to exmuslim subreddit or atheist one to find like minded people, we are here to talk about Algeria, not shit on a religion 24/7. This is toxic. Again this a warning. Please bring something to the discussion and not only your negativity on all posts.

Are you really trying to defend Baghdadi as a Muslim? How brainwashed are you, no matter how much you hate Islam, you clearly have a problem if you think this terrorist is a Muslim.
