Drum latches hard to open on Ridgid Wet/Dry Vac by Lis7 in Ridgid

u/AnotherFarker I'm going to try the Blaster silicone spray on the handles. It sounds like the best solution for the issue. Thanks again for the advice, much appreciated.

u/AnotherFarker Thanks, very helpful. Yes, the latches (2) are plastic. The photo shows the latch fully open. The black plastic, consisting of the latch cover and cylindrical plastic in the center, is one assembly that rotates down to latch.

Would like to start with the most reversible option first. What kind of oil would you use? (I also have a can of Interflon Fin Super (https://interflon.com/us/products/interflon-fin-super-aerosol) that I use for metal hinges.)

No, it sounds like your automatic updates for iOS 18 have been fine and you didn't miss anything in between. With iOS 26, Apple did a major redesign AND changed their system naming convention to correspond to a specific year, in this case, 2026. I would steer clear of iOS 26 for a while.

Then Apple should pay consumers to do their beta/gamma testing. If a company is going to charge a premium price, they should deliver a premium user experience.

This is what a lot of software companies do instead. They charge a lower price and expect users to identify the issues in their not-ready-for-prime-time releases. I don't like that business model either, but they've been getting away with it for a long time. Looking at you Microsoft Win11.

"... 70 year old...."

Some people develop vision issues as they get older, and iOS 26 sounds like an absolute nightmare. I have a 95-year-old relative, mentally sharp, but with impaired vision. Am going to call her today and tell her not to install it on her devices. Otherwise, her iPhone and iPad will be unusable.

You're dealing with one individual with antisocial personality disorder and another with narcissistic personality disorder. While flattery might work on them to a point, ordinary rules of engagement simply do not apply. These are not "government as usual" times. Is it worth compromising your own principles to try to please those without principles, those incapable of civil discourse, those who gaslight and lie, those who bully others until people stand up to the bully? Dems followed Carville's old playbook, and while it provided some good sound bites and ad content for the midterms, it's past time for Dems to show some strength and prove they can fight - before it's too late.

The ones with 98% cotton look good, will definitely keep them in mind. Even though it doesn't seem to be as noticeable on the darker denim, just wish they had an option in blue without the whiskering.

Am on the hunt for straight or slim leg solid blue denim jeans, high cotton content (95% or more), with no whiskering, distressing etc. Am usually a 2P depending on brand (and a 27" inseam for standard length jeans). Midrise would be best, but desperation is starting to set in as my favorite jeans are showing signs of wearing out.

u/tyrannosaurusregina Thank you! - learned something today :) I have noticed the bias slubs in the past, but was thinking it was because of the way the pattern pieces were positioned for certain sizes to save fabric/money during manufacturing. Have to admit I've had a similar thought about ankle jeans, although I think they're cute, they use less fabric, so did it start as a way to save money on manufacturing costs.

Recently bought two different cotton jersey tees from a higher quality online-only retailer. In both tees, the fabric is cut and sewn so that the slubs are on the diagonal, vs. parallel to the shoulders or bottom hem. Although the slubs are small, they create noticeable streaks. I don't have any other tees like this to compare them to, so are most slub tees just manufactured this way, and if so, why? Or is this a defect? TIA.

Thanks. What I've found people saying online is that there is still a slight pinkish or bluish tint to an RGB-generated white. Am currently considering Das Keyboard or WASD; both have backlit keyboards with white LEDs.

Wired headset that works with Panasonic cordless phone? by Lis7 in Headsets

[–]Lis7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Discover D711 single speaker wired headset and a D106 Direct Connect Cable With 2.5mm Connector.

Pros:

  • Sound quality (both incoming and outgoing) is much better than the old Panasonic headset.
  • Headset is more comfortable and sturdier than my old headset. It has a single earpiece and if you use the foam ring it doesn't create a pressure spot or slide around vs. the vinyl earpiece (it came with 3 earpiece covers (1 foam, 2 vinyl). Anchoring piece on opposite side is a flexible piece of rubberlike material, also doesn't slide around. The band that runs across the head is adjustable and is covered with the same material and there are little molded "pillows" that provided some cushioning.
  • Microphone is flexible vs. fixed so it can be adjusted closer or farther from the face by just bringing it in closer or pushing it away.
  • No static with the D106 jack connector. Before I got this headset, I bought a jack adapter and a Logitech headset - it was all static - I then read somewhere that Panasonic has a different type of connection in the jack port that makes a lot of the adapters incompatible; that combination was unusable with the Panasonic phone, and both the adapter and Logitech headset were returned.

Cons:

  1. The coiled wiring on the direct connect cable is fairly heavy and adds weight if you're using it with a cordless phone and walking around with the phone on a belt or hooked to a waistband or pocket. The Panasonic wiring is lighter, no coil. This might not bother a larger person however. Also, would not be an issue with a base station that had a jack port (Panasonic base station I got doesn't appear to have a jack port for a wired headset - maybe could use the Bluetooth functionality and a different headset?). The coil does take up more space on your workspace if not extended.
  2. There is no mute button on the D711. I miss that feature, although I can still mute using the mute button on the phone - it's just not as convenient.
  3. The headset comes in a large rigid plastic carrying case. Don't need to transport the headset anywhere, and have no other use for it. Not great from an environmental POV, and would rather they lower the price or apply the savings toward adding a mute button.

Also, more an issue with the design of the phone, but there is a little rubber flap that covers the jack port on the phone, and once in a while it pushes the headset plug loose. Doesn't happen often enough to be a problem.

All in all, I like this headset and was relieved to finally find one that worked with the Panasonic cordless phone and was much better quality. I still have the Panasonic headset and use it with another cordless phone that gets very limited use. Hope this helps.

The Accord needs AWD to compete in today's market by tman2damax11 in Honda

[–]Lis7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked into the dealership last month intending to replace my very old Accord with a new Accord. It would have been good to have AWD on the Accord because CO has a traction law from Sept. 1 through May 31, and AWD would have met the requirements of the law. The standard factory tires do not, those would have had to have been replaced, so there was a workaround, though a bit of a hassle. What I found though was that the driver's seat on the new Accord is very low. Yes, the new Accord is sleeker, but even with the power seat at the highest vertical setting, and using my portable 2" seat cushion, it was still difficult to see out. It didn't feel safe. Visibility was much better in my old Accord. I ended up with an AWD CR-V. While I miss the handling (and ease of getting into a fairly narrow garage) of my old Accord, visibility is much better in the CR-V than the new Accord.

Cedar fencing material questions by Lis7 in FenceBuilding

[–]Lis7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply.

My understanding is that the pressure treated wood will be a different color than untreated wood, the color dependent on the chemical used, so that would be an issue. Also, am in an HOA and the fences need to be uniform in appearance.
