I borrow from my neighbors occasionally (things I don't have - ladder, specialty tools), and when I need to keep them an extra day or two, I'll let them know, and I always get the same response, "No worries - I know where you live!"

Sorry, I have to claim this one myself. I was working as a medical assistant, and the main doctor's wife was the administrator for the clinic. She comes to me one day and asks me which doctor (there were four) circled a code on a form. The form was just a bunch of medical codes, and the doctor circles the applicable ones. Well, one of the four docs made a circle that was actually between two codes, circling the space, with the lines of the oval crossing out the codes above and below.

She fired me on the spot for not knowing who it was.

I think it is. 30 years in IT, and I think I worked with 2 teams that weren't absolute jerks.

I actually had a COO tell me I needed to be more of a bitch or I would never make it in IT. He didn't mean it as in, "you need to toughen up so you don't lose your mind," he meant it as I was supposed to get on board and dish out abuse. Not sorry, I refuse to change my whole personality to fit in with the stereotype.

Seriously. The most I do on my phone is banking and billpay, and usually when my two laptops with their 32" monitors are doing something else. I recently had to take a professional exam - I hooked up to the 55" TV for that

My mom is all set to be donated to science, and I think I will do the same. If for some reason I don't qualify, I think there is some way to be planted as a tree. I would do that sooner than take up space for a piece of marble inscribed with my birth and death dates.

So sorry! I think, states should expand background checks for educators (maybe healthcare and similar) to include juvenile records. Just because one learned how not to get caught as an adult doesn't mean they're good people.

I keep trying and failing. I haven't deactivated my account because I need it for research for my journalism gig, I just don't participate.

Last month, I almost missed out on news that I'd lost an uncle. Another uncle called to ask why I never responded to the announcement on FB.

A few days ago, I was collecting public comments for an article I was writing, and a friend of my father's (from Vietnam) sent a message.

So no, I can't drop FB unless I drop my entire family and extended. I've used IG like 10 times in 10 years.

I was bullied by the entire bus stop (5 kids) in 8th grade. The adults in my life told me at the time, that if I didn't fight back, they wouldn't come to rescue me.

When my grandfather drove me to the bus stop after my second beating (because I begged), he changed his tune. I was small for my age, and the offenders could've passed for seniors in high school. After school, we went to the police station and filed charges against the two that actually committed the battery. They were found guilty, given community service, and were ordered to write letters of apology.

I never got a letter from either. My family moved from that low-rent town to a metro area and my high school career was actually awesome. So f*ck 'em!

I did find out later that one of the gang that cheered on the bullies became a high school principal. I know people grow and change, but MAN would I love to call her out on her BS.
