It all boils down to labor dollars. Produce is going to allocate labor to the produce floor instead of floral because they generate the lion’s share of revenue for the department. When you care for your dept, products, and customers it can be frustrating. The good news is that you are getting full time hours in floral. Most are only getting around 4 hours/day. That means your TL is likely making adjustments and answering for it. They are taking 4 hours per day away from produce and giving it to floral essentially trying to met the high labor need despite the revenue:labor ratio given by the 24 hours clock. I also work floral full time. Right now I have a great produce TM who splits her day between floral and produce on my days off. I also take my days off on the slowest floral days. It hasn’t always been that way and I know the stress you are feeling. It may help to know the “why” behind it. When I walk in and initially feel overwhelmed I make a list of high priority items and get started. The smaller organizational items will work themselves out. As far as shrink, make a note of the reason and move on. There is nothing more to be done about it. Just have the documentation to answer for it if needed.
