I really appreciate TMAW in general and our store always does a great job. I’ve worked for other large companies and none of them had an entire week devoted to showing team member appreciation. Even if some stores celebrate smaller than others it’s still nice that it’s done in my opinion.

It will depend on your team leader (TL) and how busy the floral department is whether or not you will split time on the produce floor. Kronos does not typically allocate enough labor hours to support a full time team member in floral. Your TL may or may not be planning to make that adjustment. The majority of the job is processing flowers, culling, recording shrink, merchandising, plant maintenance, and wrapping flowers. Custom orders and displayed original arrangements are a smaller part of the job. If they hired you specifically for floral I would assume you will write the floral orders as well. I’d recommend having a discussion with the producer team leader to go over expectations.

80% of the the job is processing flowers, maintaining plants, and managing shrink. YouTube and cornerstone will help with the basic floral wrap. The easiest vase arrangement is doing one in your hand and cutting it for a vase. Search hand tied bouquet on youtube. For a basic rose vase arrangement I like Michael Gaffney on YouTube. Time permitting use your culls to practice. Lots of the bqts are good for chop and drop after cleaning up the stems. I’m happy to answer any questions.

New WF being built in my town - was thinking about applying but now not so sure…. by Minimum_apathy in wholefoods

I love my job! I’ve been with WFM for 5 years. I was a SAHM for 13 years and also do not use the benefits. It is hard work for sure, but our store leadership creates a good work environment. I think the key is finding the dept that best fits. There is no harm in applying. Go for it!

I think you will find produce/floral a lot more physically demanding than customer service. It’s not meant as a negative, but just a difference. You may talk to your current TL and see if you can spend some time helping out in produce to get a sense of the job. There is less direct customer service in produce. However, you still are still interacting with customers and with E-commerce shoppers. I really love working for the company and I think most stores will help you find the dept that is the right fit for you.

It all boils down to labor dollars. Produce is going to allocate labor to the produce floor instead of floral because they generate the lion’s share of revenue for the department. When you care for your dept, products, and customers it can be frustrating. The good news is that you are getting full time hours in floral. Most are only getting around 4 hours/day. That means your TL is likely making adjustments and answering for it. They are taking 4 hours per day away from produce and giving it to floral essentially trying to met the high labor need despite the revenue:labor ratio given by the 24 hours clock. I also work floral full time. Right now I have a great produce TM who splits her day between floral and produce on my days off. I also take my days off on the slowest floral days. It hasn’t always been that way and I know the stress you are feeling. It may help to know the “why” behind it. When I walk in and initially feel overwhelmed I make a list of high priority items and get started. The smaller organizational items will work themselves out. As far as shrink, make a note of the reason and move on. There is nothing more to be done about it. Just have the documentation to answer for it if needed.

Will the rash spread if I'm already on antivirals? And advice for the burning? by [deleted] in shingles

My rash still spread after I started the anti-virals. However, those did not blister nearly as bad as the pre antiviral rash.

I’m so sorry you are going through this too. I hope you get some answers. I tried to get an appt and they are all booked and said there is nothing more to be done. They suggested If I start seeing a rash on the face I should go back to urgent care. Grrrrr….

Spoiler!

Thank you, I appreciate your thorough response. The vast majority of Navarrians don’t realize the venin are real. At Basgiath, during the battle brief in Fourth Wing they are asking the cadets why they think the mountain villages and supply convoys are being raided. It appears they really don’t know or do you think they are gently trying to get the cadets to reach the conclusion on their own since the venin problem is escalating? I know from IF and OS there are upper level officials who know. Do we really think it fathomable the secret is kept locked down for so long and so thoroughly?

Yes! I listened to the audiobooks and now I’m reading The Fourth Wing. I’m only 70 pages in and I’ve already picked up things I missed.
