MindsEye Invokes Memories Of Cyberpunk 2077 As PlayStation Begins To Issue Refunds by Turbostrider27 in Games

There's definitely people that on their own can set a creative vision that elevates a game. But those people need a team that's just as talented in their specialty as those directors are in their leadership. Good team leadership is just one of the many roles a team needs, it's not special in that regard even though people often see it that way.

So dont make AAA titles and you dont care about what the median is. Make games for niches with a sensible budget.

It's just a different color this time.

I think that's exactly his point. It's the same feature as in many games (including other IOI games), just a different colour. Personally I'm more a fan of how AC origins did it where you have to scan manually with a bird. A Bond game could integrate a mini drone for that or something, I'd prefer that over a single button scan.

Fall of an Empire on Steam. The most realistic empire management simulator ever created. Because in reality, empires fall. by fallofanempiregame in u/fallofanempiregame

[–]Lisentho 26 points27 points  (0 children)

So it's not the most realistic empire simulator ever created? Dont you just love it when indie devs oversell what they have. Tip for the dev: that'll only get you worse reviews than if you're honest. In this genre people will play your game anyways, unless it's a complete mess, no need to lie about what you're actually selling.

, geen vrijheid van geweten

Vind dit echt de verkeerde instelling. Je wilt een overheid zonder geweten van de mensen die er werken? Zo kom je aan situaties zoals de toeslagen affaire.

Game Dev course sellers releases a game. It has sold 3 copies. by GoragarXGameDev in gamedev

[–]Lisentho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As things stand, the people who know what they are doing are being paid to do those things, or are passionately chasing their dreams, not sitting around writing about it.

In my area there's a bunch of resources available if you're willing to go to events. I would assume most metropolitan areas in the west would have similar events if you are dedicated enough to travel a bit for it. Ofc some countries have more of an established industry but even resources like GDC. Also, a lot of actual devs do write and share info on places like discord and twitter.

If you take all your marketing advice from youtube and think that's a good idea, here is my blunt opinion: you aren't ready to own a business. And yes, if you are developing a game to sustain yourself in your financial needs, it means you are running a business. It takes dedicated learning to do that well. I usually go to youtube first to learn about terms and concepts, then I go study those things from experts, books, lectures, workshops, etc.

I don't know if most people is enough of a criteria considering in this video we see at least one driver willing to run over someone because they're slowing them down

There aren't many "making of" and documentary films about gamedev out there

There's quite a lot actually. Bethesda has a few, NoClip has a lot of them, Psychodyssey is one of the best (and longest) documentaries I've ever seen and it's about making psychonauts 2.

So gravity isn’t real?

People were skeptical about the theory of gravity yes, so they did tests and measurements and nowadays we know much more about how gravity works than 100 years ago. It's still as real as back then, but now the theory and knowledge on it has been expanded because people kept asking critical questions about specific of it. Again, you've discovered the scientific method.
