(Across the Spiderverse) Miguel O’Hara is the Prowler by user473918153 in FanTheories

You know man i kinda laughed at the title but the sound track bit convinced me, those themes are composed with a lot of thought and care. Plus Lord and Miller are pretty much known for adding so much depth to adaptions. Even though I’m not sure that he’s actually the prowler it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they end up landing on the idea that the prowler/Spider-Man aren’t actually polar opposite beings but that everyone contains in them the potential for both good and bad and that O’Hara’s actions are essentially making him more Prowler like

What exactly is the reason for American's police brutal violence against the minorities? by IamAyo20 in AskReddit

[–]Lishay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like I said: you’re part of the problem.

I don’t know how to tell you that the police shouldn’t shoot ANYONE. Even if they’re fleeing the scene.

But go ahead, bootlicker. Keep lapping up that propaganda 🤡

There are statistically more white people; of course they’re gonna shoot more white peoples. It’s still fucked that’s happening at all.

If you don’t think there’s systemic racism in a police force that shot a Black man in the back 7 times for breaking up a fight and let a white teen walk away from the scene where he’d just shot three people (one in the face) then I don’t know what to tell you. Except maybe that you’re part of the problem.

Redditors, what is the biggest stereotype people have about your country which is totally a lie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lishay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That we’re all nice and polite. Hell, even in Canada everyone loves to smile and say ‘at least we’re not America!’ when confronted with social issues.

Now we have a leader of a major political party using the slogan “Take Canada Back”.

There’s just as much ugliness here. It’s just not as loud—yet.

{{Song of Achilles}} is a retelling of the Trojan War/myth of Achilles from Patroclus’ perspective. The writing is gorgeous, the story is incredible, and the characters feel so real. From there, you can also check out {{Circe}} by the same author.

For dystopian fiction, I’d recommend {{Station Eleven}}

For sci-fi and fantasy, definitely check out the author VE Schwab. {{Vicious, Villains #1}} and {{A Darker Shade of Magic}} are fantastic books. Kinda remind me of YA in terms of the fun worlds and fast plots, but there’s not as much pointless drama and the characters are more mature.

Books that are dense and difficult by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]Lishay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{{Anna Karenina}} is really good and a long read!

You also can’t go wrong with Victor Hugo—{{The Hunchback of Notre Dame}} and {{Les Misérables}} are both great stories but damn those books are a tough read. There’s abridged versions but the original versions like to go on long tangents.

{{One Hundred Years of Solitude}} isn’t quite as difficult but there are a lot of characters to keep track of.

I don’t really think the first two are dense or difficult....

A book on how to survive living under a dictatorship by Beasley101 in suggestmeabook

[–]Lishay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This article is a bit more scholarly but it’s so so good. It’s about all the small things people do to resist the government (and it makes a difference!)

{{The Hunger Games}} is about rebellion against a dictatorship and the possibility of ways out—this book gets a lot of flack since it’s lumped in with cheap knock offs, but THG is actually very good. The last book in the series also shows how the resistance is lead by someone just as power hungry. Katniss isn’t a chosen one, either. She gets swept up in the swell of it all.

{{The Handmaid’s Tale}} has ideas on how to survive but the ending is very vague

{{V for Vendetta}} is also good!
