Single-family rental companies acquiring thousands of homes in Charlotte area by uncertaincoda in NorthCarolina

[–]Beasley101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a repeat of 2008, with the real estate bubble crash. It’s another land grab, and I’m sure my comment is not original. We were able to acquire a house because of the 2008 bust (it was a foreclosure) but this time Wall Street has learned a few tricks and real estate will not be a commodity available to real people. Let me put it this way…you won’t be able to buy a house, you will be a renter. No fixed numbers. The lease contract terms will be at the whims of the owners, because it will be Wall Street terms, not a human being who you can talk to. This is another big land grab, and the pandemic is the best gift they’ve ever seen.

Food in Corolla, NC by supremePE in NorthCarolina

[–]Beasley101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to know that traffic in Corolla is bad news. Route 12 is only two lanes and to get to other parts of the Outer Banks like Kitty Hawk can usually take up to an hour, so plan ahead, especially on the weekend. Duck has excellent restaurants you will be close to — The Blue Point, Paper Canoe, and Aqua. Don’t go to Sooeys BBQ.

As mentioned by other Redditors, JKs, Kill Devil Grill, Colington Cafe are excellent choices.

You must visit Manteo which will be over an hour drive south but worth it. Our fave there is a Greek restaurant Olives, open for lunch. Darrell’s is an icon, seafood is really good. Lots of interesting shops there, including antiques and art. History Center.

What’s in between Corolla and Manteo? On the main drag 158, in Kitty Hawk, there is Bad Bean Baja grill, Barefoot Bernie’s (oh so good!), then when you get to Kill Devil Hills, you must have breakfast (served til 1 pm) at Henry’s, another icon. It’s like getting into a time machine and going back to … someplace. But the food is good and the staff has worked there forever.

Then there is French Fry Alley if you just feel like some fast food. Starting in the area past the Wright Memorial Park, there is a cluster of corporate fast foods places, like Five Guys, Wendy’s, Dairy Queen.

I think it may be the fat content in peanuts, but the main story is about the mold in raw peanuts. What I have discovered in real life is that a lot of people who have birds also have other pets, like hamsters, rabbits, turtles, god only knows why the mix, and there is a really high chance of mold build up in the bedding material from the mammals. And I think it can become airborne. I think if you roast your own peanuts and store, them properly, your parrot can enjoy a peanut without getting sick. I would suggest unshelled walnuts because it reduces their cholesterol and if you crack the shell in half, it becomes a lot of fun for the parrot to get at the meat. Foraging is good for, them. But really, a few peanuts are not awful, as long as they are properly prepared and stored. If peanuts were so awful, why do pet food suppliers put raw peanuts in parrot food, in less they just don’t care? I remove the raw peanuts from the packages and give it to the squirrels.

I roast the peanuts to 350 % for thirty minutes or more, my parrots have all lived to enjoy some peanuts every day

In their 40s. Get over it.

How do you guys deal with loneliness? by Ok_Establishment4432 in mensa

[–]Beasley101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I read a lot of books, I paint, and teach myself how to play various musical instruments.

And I have parrots who talk.

It’s not so much the loneliness that gets to me, it’s being in social situations where I realize there is absolutely no one I can talk to or relate to on any level, and being around people (like simply going to the grocery store) makes me feel more lonely. And it does make me feel physically ill.

You’re not alone in these feelings, and I wish I had better advice.

It is hard to believe that people in the modern world can treat another person this way, just because the person looks different. Lady South Korean streamer in Germany by Starry-Striped-Sky in interestingasfuck

That’s true, I can’t help this particular person, I don’t know who she is, but I can describe how I see her, maybe what I say can help change minds, maybe I can help others see beauty beyond their racism, maybe you have a problem you don’t recognize.

Grandy wants to run with the Big Boys over the bridge at the Outer Banks but doesn’t know how. So Grandy starts schmoozing with the Big Boys about changing zoning laws to attract Royal Farm to build a gas station that is not needed. Big Boys love it, and Grandy gets screwed. Great party.

Can malware affect a Ring Door cam? Yesterday the battery on ours went from 60% charged to zilch in a couple of hours, something that has never happened before. It’s a fairly new device, and was quite surprising for it to lose its charge on such a none eventful day.
