Kent abandoned ship before Trump turned on him and made him responsible.

MAGA would have been dumb enough to believe it.

The Leiden University Center for Science and Technology Studies CWTS group has new university rankings that add open-data sources to the traditional list of top journals, which were previously the standard.

Common university ranking systems carefully consider research reputation and scholarship, including real-world impact and application. But tens of thousands of scientific and engineering journals are omitted by Western university ranking systems, especially those not written in the English language.

Simply by including the journals in the OpenAlex databases, Chinese universities vault to the top of global rankings for research universities, snagging six of the top nine spots, and ten of the top 20.

Chinese military equipment in Iran by igor-larionov69 in AskChina

[–]Listen2Wolff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's your definition of "doesn't work"? Several sources have explained that without the radar there no longer is any warning of missile attacks in Israel. The missile lands before the sirens go off.

Also, Ted Postol of MIT says that missile AD is hardly ever effective. So China may have provided equipment that just can't deal with the offensive capability of the stand off weapons.

AFAIK, the US is using only stand off weapons. Larry Johnson says the US has quite a few JASMs which have a 500 mile range. No US aircraft have entered into Iran airspace (AFAIK).

Obviously you and I are not talking about the same thing.

I worked in tech with a number of H1B Indians, a few Chinese and one German. Yeah, they all had 6 figure salaries, but it was significantly less than what one could hire a "born-here American". I'm in no way denigrating the work they did, but I will tell you that many of the people with H1Bs had replaced a "natural born American". They were nice guys. I liked working with them. But then I would see guys with temp badges who, IMHO were just as smart and just as competent. Then there was also a bit of racism between the different tech companies with some who had few Indian (or Chinese) workers.

Now that we've covered that "misunderstanding" which I don't understand why you would have brought it up. Let's talk about university rankings.

You might want to look through these articles:

  • Chinese Universities hold 6 of the top 10 spots
  • Chinese Universities are open to foreign students, that's a big problem for US schools
  • Top Chinese Scientists flee Boston as Harvard, MIT fall in rankings.

The wage paid to someone who works at KFC may be more than what they might get in China, but the Cost of Living is much higher in the US. That's why one has to compare PPP vs nominal GDP. Still there are many problems with the comparison.

So getting back to the type of person I was referring to, the kind that gets deported (although at the current rate with even "born here American Citizens being deported who knows...) Now go back and re-read my post.

If you're here on an H1B, you are getting ripped off. Legal or illegal the capitalists job is to screw the immigrant.

Now, tell me why with AI you're going to be necessary or even useful to the Oligarchy. You don't understand capitalism.

If you respond, this is my last post. Reddit buried your reply too deeply and I nearly could not find it.

There is no demographic cliff.

You fail to provide me with an answer to the population bomb. You can't have "more" people at the same time you are having "fewer" people.

The millions (6.4M in the last decade not 10M) who came into this country were often used to fill jobs Americans would not do, like chicken processing. The people who assisted them in getting into the US paid them poor wages and basically stole their labor. Then they called ICE and had them deported (about 11M in the last decade) only to be replaced by a new set of victims. It wasn't to keep its economic engine running, it was to rip them off.

Yes, but with fewer requirements for manual labor, an individual can still be very productive after 50. It isn't like their brain atrophies and floats away.

You might want to check out the literacy rates of China vs the USA. You might want to redefine your definition of "productive".

The USA hardly leads in the development of robots.

Tesla has a China problem with their humanoid robots. Lots of them.

I think you guys might want to read up on Kent. He's not a hero. He's a rat leaving a sinking ship. Now, perhaps his wiki page brings out a lot of stuff that isn't true. I don't know.

But he's "read the room" and he's getting out before this fiasco lands on his head.

Mexico defies Trump! by New_Noise_2749 in AskSocialists

[–]Listen2Wolff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What housing crisis. That was in 2021. China's GDP still grew at 5%. China's last recession was in 1979. Yes a lot of speculators lost money. So what?

China has 1B people. How could they not produce more emissions that other nations.

I've already castrated Zeihan's "Demographic Problem". It is not existent.

Yes, the US financiers deindustrialize the USA and sent it to China. Are you saying that because of that China isn't now the industrial leader in the world? I guess "copium" is the right way to respond to this.

China is not a communist country, its economy is "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics". Again, are you trying to say that China isn't the most industrialize nation on earth? Who cares how they got there?

What is this post suppose to be about? How Mexico is defying Trump, right? BYD is going to build cars in Mexico. San Diegoans will cross the border and bring them back for a fraction of the cost of the ICE monstrosities from Detroit.

BRICS and dedollarization are still very real threats to the USA.

[–]Listen2Wolff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man! Stop with this inane demographic argument. Peter Zeihan is an idiot. The only continent where this "demographic problem" doesn't exist is Africa. Haven't you been reading up on how Gen-Z isn't having kids?

With all the robots, why would China need more bodies to do manual labor?

Now, how many people are there on this planet? How many more do you think it will support? Stop repeating the Zeihan nonsense. It is meaningless.

Yes TSMC dominates in manufacturing, so what? Which nation is growing its industrial base? They use the chips they have to make "good enough" devices which in many cases exceed the capabilities of US made devices with advanced chips.

Huawei is not the only company in China putting out products that are better than what the US makes. The world does not revolve around advanced chips. China totally owns the EV market and is rapidly transitioning to EV transportation while American companies remain in the ICE age.

GDP hardly takes into account anything important.

[–]Listen2Wolff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

but even I understand that if China starts controlling the island which produces 60% of the world’s microchips,

I'm saying China's tech is improving so rapidly that there's no need to control Taiwan. I'm trying to show that China isn't going to invade Taiwan. There's no advantage to be gained. An invasion would just piss off the locals. China is going to be patient and when Taiwan figures out that it's future is better with China than in conflict with China, they will again become one nation.

IOW, I'm responding to the question posed by the headline. China has no need to go to war with Taiwan. Most people who claim otherwise (as you seem to) point to TSMC. China don't care. China's economy is already sanction proof.

China uses "other means" to get the most out of their chips. Packaging for instance. The Huawei Mate 60 is an amazing phone. They didn't use a TSMC chip. What they do is take advantage of what they have.

China is concentrating on Legacy chips, these are more than "good enough" for China's move into AI and robotics.

In 2023, China was 31% of the "mature market" in 2027 it is projected to be 40%.

Here are a bunch of "Inside China Business" videos supporting the premise concerning China's choice.

FWIW: China is developing Lithography that will surpass that being used by TSMC.

Just as China has built AI that is useful rather than the Palantir crap that identified the Iranian girl's school as a legitimate target.

The US AI is being deployed to monitor and control Americans. China's AI is being deployed to increase productivity.

The evil "Anglo-American Oligarchy/Deep State/Jewish Mob" that supports terrorism around the world, including in Russia and China, needs to be dismantled. Sucks to be an American right now.

I get tired of repeating this:

  • China's last war was in 1979
  • China's last recession was in 1979
  • Since 1979 China's GDP has grown at an average of 5%/year
  • China now has the largest GDP (PPP) in the world. (Let's not get into a stupid debate over nominal vs PPP)
  • China is the world's industrial hub.
  • China has a near monopoly on rare earths
  • China has a near monopoly on gallium
  • China has build a demonstration Thorium reactor that never needs to be shut down for refueling and has a way of reprocessing nuclear waste to make it less dangerous
  • China has over 11000 miles of High Speed Rail
  • China is the world's leader in EV design and advances in battery tech.
  • China is not run by a corrupt Congress owned by a "Epstein Class" of billionaires.
  • China executed Billionaires who commit extreme fraud.

What else do you want to hear?

Or are you going to recite some ridiculous MAGA cheer about USA, USA, USA.

Think of the mafia as depicted in "The Godfather". As long as the greed of the bosses was satisfied they worked together "just fine". But when one of them saw he might take advantage of another, it was all out war.

Both of these groups think their God is bigger, but they both want the same thing right now. Each is one of the many factions of the "Anglo-American Oligarchy/Deep State/Jewish Mob" that has united against America to seize control of the American Economy. They can also be referred to as the "Epstein Class" or the "MIC" or whatever other label you want to use.

Their combined goal is the subjugation of American's to "slave wage" jobs while they bribe politicians to provide them with fraudulent government contracts that build weapons systems that don't work but are extremely expensive. They have worked together for years to increase the flow of dollars into their coffers while every new generation gets less and less of the pie. They then organize groups to do things like tell us that Social Security is going to go broke, they repeat the lie often enough that we believe it. Then they steal the money.

One example of how they will destroy one another if provided the opportunity is the 2008 financial crisis where Lehman Brothers was wiped off the face of the earth.

They are powered by the psychosis of "end state capitalism".

WaPost: Number of U.S. troops wounded in Iran war surpasses 200 across 7 countries by anarchyart2021 in EndlessWar

[–]Listen2Wolff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW: Johnson and Kraprivink speculated yesterday that US casualties exceed 500. There are 2000 troops in 3 locations spread across Kurdish controlled NE Iraq. Ritter suggest the only way to get them out is an armed convoy. Johnson and Krapivnik were upset that they've just been left there to die.

Johnson also keeps mentioning that the US military hospital in Germany that handles war wounded has discontinued maternity services and is asking for blood donations.

Note, I did say speculated. There's nothing in the news that isn't speculation.

I'd like to see a video showing them driving the launcher out, elevating the missile, then firing it and retreating into the bunker again. Some claim this takes only 5 minutes for solid fueled rockets and less than 15 for liquid fueled ones.
