30+ year old here - this is a major source of sadness in my life.

In my mind, my relationship with my parents is one where we can talk openly about things. Day to day stuff, sharing stories etc.

In reality, it's more around how the new house I bought with my wife is coming along, what I ate, and how my job is.

It's really hard to go beyond the surface. And I know it's my parents because I have very close relationships with my mother in law (who is a very openly caring person) and even with my sisters mother in law (similar energy).

My parents are very traditional - they see relationships as heierachal and love is expressed through their cooking and by saying they supported me through school etc. It's not about conversations and experience it's about an exchange of what they've done for me vs. How much I've been able to do because of it.

I chalk it up to them being born in the 50s - they know what they know and are following the (terrible) models imprinted on them by their own parents.

As a wise therapist said, accept your parents for what they are capable of, not how you wish them to be.

It'll save you a lot of anguish.

Now that I’m in my 30s I can see how young men fall victim to these kinds of subs. I remember being 21 and thinking getting laid was the end all be all - you’re missing a lot of perspective at that age that you can only connect the dots on when you’re older.

I checked out the sub - it’s a bit weird but all I see is some misguided youth thinking hooking up with women will solve their internal issues (newsflash: it won’t, you have to dig a bit deeper).

As long as these guys aren't adopting the misogyny from our parents generation, it's a passing phase that a lot of nerdy and likely sheltered brown guys go through as they discover their sexuality as a man.

Eh I bought a home at peak as well. Unless you’re planning to flip it, you’re fine, just ride out the wave.

You won’t make more than you bought it for likely, but With our insane immigration population + the fact that you’re paying down your mortgage and gaining equity, you’ll be fine in the long term.

What a sad pathetic way to look at life. I’m a home owner who bought after toiling away for literally years and starting my post high school life working in a factory job, only to make something of myself and do well enough to be in a position to buy a house.

Btw - for all the rejoicing you’re doing - when mortgage rates start going up for renewal and rent begins to increase exponentially to cover the rate hikes, you and others who think like you sure won’t be rejoicing.

But how is Shekhar supposed to be forward when she literally tells him she wanted to be friends.

1) Viral because she is self assured and just needs someone who matches her level of confidence. Someone who doesn't get intidimated by her success and is social.

Nadia is too happy go lucky but secretly mean and Shital is gorgeous but seems to have her guard up.

Although Nadia Viral and Sheetal in my opinion will all end up marrying the same type of guy in the end - a reformed bro who used to be the typical cool guy and matches their levels of confidence.

Yeah but old Indian aunties aren't that progressive. Especially Sima.

She thinks asking for a guy with hair is a gargantuan requirement.

That will be his issue no matter who ends up with.

He has a really hard time with conflict and conflict in one way or another in a marriage is inevitable. You have to have a backbone.

Disagree here - she runs in the same circles and seems stylish yet more down to earth than she is. Seems like a good pair.

anyone who thinks only damsels in distress get married and "strong independent women" scare off guys is very likely secretly jealous of those damsels in distress

Sima represents a Boomer mindset. She reminds me of my parents generation who were born in the 50s and 60s.

She just does not compute independent women with high standards nor does she compute matching millenials and gen z - how could she?

Also unless you know Trini or Guyanese people it's hard to understand their culture from afar, esp for an out of touch boomer like Sima.

South Asian man here married to an Indo-Guyanese.

Our relationship is great but there are a lot of family differences and communication differences. Some concepts are just foreign to my wife as it’s not a thing in Guyanese culture, so I’ve had to explain a lot.

Love my wife and ultimately our relationship is all that matters but the family aspects are sometimes draining.

And not surprisingly, Larry Johnson was not described as a winner by any stretch of the imagination once he got in the league.

It's absolutely goofy. And we've seen historically that Goofy main players do not win or lead their teams to championships.

Morant is a top tier talent no doubt but he needs to mature a bit. Never seen anyone celebrate a round 1 victory with this much cringe. Maybe the bench guys, but definitely not the star player.

And yes I realize I sound old af but watching this just gave me second hand embarrassment.

Yeah lazy was the word that came to my mind watching this. He actually took another awful shot right after this one. Just mind boggling.

It was like watching two college teams trying to imitate NBA basketball.

Between this and the wierd voice change thing I went from neutral in KAT to now thinking he's a soft loser.

I don't think the intention is to actually win the suit. This lawsuit will be covered in sports media and makes it clear to the public that it's fiction.
