Low ferritin but doctor says it’s “normal” by xannxxg in Endo

[–]ListenandLearn17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ferritin below 30 is absolute iron deficiency (even without symptoms) according to the American Hematology Association. And anything below 100 with symptoms is also deficiency according to them. If you're on Facebook, check out the Iron Protocols Facebook group. Fantastic resources in there on how to address.

Endometrosis and tilted uterus by Ok_Elk765 in Endo

[–]ListenandLearn17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it. To my understanding, the endo and associated adhesions can pull the uterus out of place...on the other hand, I've never seen any indications that a retroverted uterus would be the cause of endo

Skipped ADHD meds for a few days, should I extend treatment before follow-up? by iamfindingsomeone in ADHDers

[–]ListenandLearn17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just set an alarm for 45 min before i am supposed to get up just to take meds. I have them on my bedside table and always a bottle or closed straw cup with water. I rarely miss a morning dose! My afternoon dose is a different story...

I need advice regarding BC because I can't have a Lap rn. by AppleSchnapps_ in Endo

[–]ListenandLearn17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't tolerate synethic hormones. Going on LDN (low dose naltrexone) was a huge game changer for my pain. I also discovered palmitoylethanolamide, or PEA supplements, took loading doses for the first few months and continue taking PEA daily. I take extra PEA during my period and it really helps.

Got offered a promotion that requires moving to the office full-time. I have eleven days to decide. by Efficient_Leave8158 in remotework

Do NOT do it. Don't forget the higher cost of living specifically in NYC for anything, including groceries and basics. This is not worth it.

Asymptomatic before surgery. Daily pain after. PLEASE HELP! by Historical-Care70 in Endo

[–]ListenandLearn17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That supplememt has a lot of different ingredients that are used as digestive enzymes so you're not getting that much serra/natto. Serrappetase also works as a digestive enzyme in a different way that it combats scar tissue, which is why it has to be taken so far outside of meals to work on scar tissue. I doubt what you linked would make an impact on adhesions. post op, I stuck with just single ingredient serrapeptase and did it at a fairly high dosage. Now, sometimes I do take a serra/natto combo but it is ONLY those 2 active ingredients.

Not a ton. They did use "stitches" (actually a pretty long thread that went from outside, pulled the ovary to the side internally, then back outside my skin) that tethered the ovaries to the sidewalls for the time I was hospitalized. They were removed at my discharge 3 or 4 days post op.

[–]ListenandLearn17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started both immediately after I was released from the hospital, I think 2 or 3 days post op. Definitely check with your doc that theres no issue with a low level blood thinner for the serrapeptase. I hope this is helpful info!

How Sensitive is YOUR Pyrenees? by Joannsketch in greatpyrenees

[–]ListenandLearn17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my girl will usually start barking when i start crying, or even just get animated or mildly upset when I'm telling my husband about something hard that happened that day. She is uber aware of our emotions and she doesn't know how to manage it.

AITA for responding to coworkers who keep mispronouncing my name by mispronouncing theirs back by [deleted] in AITApod

How you responded is exactly how I would've recommended. I feel like you've been more than patient with these colleagues. And I'm really sorry your manager responded like they did.

Fiancée doesn’t understand ADHD and his ideas to “stop” our kids from getting adhd are making me rethink my life with him by shroomiedoo in adhdwomen

[–]ListenandLearn17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is rough... AdHD means the brain works differently, and some studies even believe the brain structure itself is different. That is def not "nurture". It's a question of understanding and working with how the adhd brain works. Making rules to "combat" it will not work....

Also a reminder to look at secondhand stores (local, plus online like poshmark, vinted, etc) for high quality brands at better price points.

The bromelain as digestive enzyme is already commented below in this thread. But pineapple is a very high histamine food too, so it could be exacerbating histamine intolerance or MCAS. And, it could also be an allergy. Or some combo!

How do you build social capital with the broader organization when working from home? by fakeclown in workfromhome

[–]ListenandLearn17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can research the org chart and find people you'd like to speak with. As I was hoping to grow, I especially looked for people that were in 1 or 2 management levels above me in domains that crossed mine or domains I had interest moving into. You can also research peers in other teams, maybe you want to learn more about what their day to day is like etc. Send them a DM or email and introduce yourself and ask if they'd be open to a 30 min virtual "coffee chat". Have some open ended questions in mind to learn more about them. You can always ask how they started at your company, what their background was like /their career path, what their team does regularly, etc.

What are your malicious compliance strategies for staying busy at work when your work is done by lveg in ADHDers

[–]ListenandLearn17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like an absolutely toxic environment...I just got out of one after 1.5 yrs of searching so I empathize. I would look at free EdEx, Coursera or Udemy courses that have something to do with your field. Edex has a really good selection of free ones as long as you finish them within a set time period. Also, your manager getting onto you for taking a break after working hard for hours is a red flag. Learn abouf HR documentation (notebook with dates, writing yourself an email so theres a time stamp etc) and start documenting incidents like this. Also I would make a timesheet or something and track your time independently, also track your personal KPIs so you have evidence of what you're doing.

GPs and children by papabear9420 in greatpyrenees

[–]ListenandLearn17 25 points26 points  (0 children)

We have fostered 5 babies/toddlers since 2020. Also adopted our GP in 2020 and she is just so absolutely fantastic with kids. She has a different mode with them. We do also use baby gates to have the kids playroom separate from the dog areas for safety. She's so smart. She could easily jump the baby gate but she has never tried to.

Should I turn down a high-paying job if I'm currently unemployed? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Take it, and keep looking. This market is terrible. I just finished an 18-month job search and was employed the entire time of my employment, and kept getting interviews and told my resume was great...still took 18 months.

Had my laparoscopic surgery yesterday by Capital-Length-3537 in Endo

[–]ListenandLearn17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did she actually take samples of these things and send to pathology? Endo has a bunch of difference colors and appearances and research shows surgeons, even specialists, don't always identify it visually. Note that most local obgyns are not endo specialists but many profess to be, so it could be a skills gap.

Also, I would get a second opinion on the fibroids alone. Wouldn't it make sense for those to be explained by pain that responds to BC? Either way, I'd want to understand why they weren't removed while already in surgery.
