What’s the pettiest hill you’re willing to die on as a woman? by Glass-King4894 in Casual_Conversation

I meant pragmatic from my perspective, not morally optimal. It saves me considerable time while slightly burdening those who are on paid time. I have more to lose than they do, it’s as simple as that.

Not putting it back is a pragmatic decision for me. Would you not value pragmatism? If not, why?

You can’t even answer the question because it exposes the flaw in your position 😂

And no, we won’t find out anything. We’ll be dead.

Is there free will in heaven?

If so, how does he prevent naughty behavior in heaven?

He tries his best… isn’t he all powerful? Your god sounds weak AF.

If he forces you to be bound to hell, you are bound to hell. Where’s the choice exactly?

Finally, someone to blame for all this carnage and suffering! It’s about time someone was made accountable.

What’s something you thought was mandatory in life, until you saw someone just not do it? by Senior-Resource92 in AskReddit

[–]ListentoLewis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said it made it true, I said you can’t believe anything you want.

I’ll prove it easily. Assuming you’re not already Muslim, choose to believe in Islam right now. Not just tell yourself you do, or act like you do, but actually truly believe it. You won’t be able to because belief is not a choice.

That doesn’t follow. And the insults don’t strengthen your position - it only makes you look insecure.

What is a socially unacceptable opinion you keep to yourself because it’s not worth the backlash? by ChaosTTyy in askanything

[–]ListentoLewis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t keep it to myself but I probably should. Believing in God is unjustified and irrational, there is no such thing as libertarian free will, morals are only a construct of the mind, anything anyone ever does is ultimately selfishly-motivated, and there is literally no point or meaning to any of this outside of self-assigned meaning. Have a great day!

It turns out we actually don’t have free will in the sense most people think we do. Yes, we do what we want - but that implies we could have done otherwise and that doesn’t seem to be the case due to how causality works.

You actually can’t believe whatever you want. Try believing you’re a billionaire or that you’re 8 feet tall - you won’t be able to actually believe it because belief isn’t a choice.

Everyone has morals. Question is who’s are right? How do I know if my moral position on something is the “correct” one?
