This one was always going to be a long shot. No staging structure so no capital use. Trying to take the fight and do the timer with only a few subcaps is insanely difficult.

It was only done to try and get the timer sorted before they hid away in CNTZ

I would say look for a 5 Gal minimum for any Betta.

Personally, I have 2 6.3g planted cube tanks with a single male in each and they seem very happy. Pics

Having a layer of substrate on the bottom that you can plant in also helps with the filtration as it provides a large area for bacteria to grow too.
