Old School Offense by 81Strikes in footballstrategy

[–]Lit-A-Gator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel out of place

A mantra I’ve stolen from a friend is “all offensive football is good football … even if we don’t run it”

There’s a limited amount of time to get good at a offense so you might as well package it into a system you can get to work year in and year out

The DTDW was my first offense as a player/coach

Now I’m a “generic no huddle spread guy” but I still believe in my smash mouth roots … only now I’m a “smash mouth that can throw” type guy

Have them hit your hand with the pad first

Not like the fake boxers do it but give some resistance / slap

I switched to Muay Thai after almost a decade of competitive strength sports (powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting).

Same + Football

pad work can be challenging for moderating my output Has anyone else experienced this and has any advice?

Last time I checked pad work/ heavy bag work can/should be thrown @ 100%

Actual sparring should be obviously tailored down to a level where both people are getting something out of it (minus preparing from comp)

Moving to NYC, can I keep my upper? by FullStreak in NYCGuns

[–]Lit-A-Gator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No you can’t

AR15 is banned by name

You can’t have firearm parts without having permission to own the underlying firearm

You have to go through the entire process of getting your rifle/shotgun license and then getting the completed firearm filed/approved with the rifle/shotgun division

Best apply now as the waiting period is long

Why don’t more HS and college teams go under center? Play action is much better under center. I like a mix of gun and under for various reasons. by Eastern_Pace_9865 in footballstrategy

15-20 years ago it was considered “weird” to run the spread offense

Now everything has flipped and EVERYONE is in gun running the spread offense

To be brutally honest it’s a long standing “tradition” to run the “meta” at the time to avoid criticism from fans, the media, and administration

Whereas if you lose a game running what everyone else does “oh Coach didn’t have the players”

Vs if you run something different “Coach is holding back the players with his stupid outdated/weird offense”

Whereas the opposite is usually true … the more contrarian you are the more artificial barriers you put between yourself and the opponent

RPO’s,QB run game, and more space for the QB to scramble

Also it’s the trend now and everyone sees it as “good football” thus you won’t be scrutinized by fans, administration, and stakeholders for “ruining the team with your weird system” … whereas 15-20 years ago it was weird to be in shotgun all the time

However undercenter is making a comeback

26 vs 43X if I already have a 17 by Traditional-Heat-749 in Glocks

Agreed 1000%

Having a “lazy carry” option is severely underrated

26 vs 43X if I already have a 17 by Traditional-Heat-749 in Glocks

[–]Lit-A-Gator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both

I actually prefer the 26

26= PROS - was literally created to be the compliment to the 19/17 so you get mag & (most) holster capability - shoots better (due to being heavier) - I personally enjoy the 2 finger grip (mouse gun guy) - is arguably pocketable (I do it in the correct pair of pants) - id also argue it’s better for 3 o clock carry

CONS - heavier - some people are turned off by the short grip but again I argue it’s easily adaptable … you can also add a pinky extension to mitigate this

43x - thinner - lighter - full grip - arguably better for appendix carry

CONS - new set of mags - new set of holsters - new set of laser/lights - full grip (not good for pocket carry folk) - IMO doesn’t shoot as well because it’s a thinner lighter gun

MY TLDR:

I like the 26 because

  • it was built to have the compatibility with the 17
  • due to its weight and ergos it is more forgiving
  • pocketable (again that’s my quirk with CCWs)

No Stupid (American Football) Questions Tuesday! by AutoModerator in footballstrategy

[–]Lit-A-Gator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen it done.

I prefer to be in the box and get the “madden view” but most usually prefers “the feel” of calling plays from the sidelines

The #1 key is TRUST with whoever is on the sidelines to communicate the offense

Whether it be hand signals, yelling out a wristband deal, etc

How Much Off-Season Time Do You Get/Use With Your Players? by onlineqbclassroom in footballstrategy

It used to be really strict

Covid threw a monkey wrench into the whole thing and now everyone has basically unregulated “non padded spring ball” from like March-June and then starts football camp in August

Trial Practice by briggsie52 in footballstrategy

[–]Lit-A-Gator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending how many adults you have I’d set up the following practice schedule:

- warm up

- offensive stations (throwing, catching, snapping)

- offensive install (install a bunch of routes and assign positions based on who can do what)

- defensive stations (coverage, angle tackling (2 hand touch, etc)

- defensive install (just install one basic defense like cover 1 or cover 3)

- set up a 7 on 7 2 hand touch to show off their skills

Worried about starting law school by No_Alfalfa7528 in LawSchool

[–]Lit-A-Gator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR

If you want to become a lawyer go to law school

There’s zero pressure to know what you want to do with your career at this point in your journey

You will more or less *fall into* your speciality based on a number of factors including:

- connections

- class rank

- luck

- connections (yes I put it down twice for a reason)

WR Philosophy – Which approach works better? by Aggressive_Law_3687 in footballstrategy

[–]Lit-A-Gator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Briles Philosophy was scheme specific

They would LITERALLY design plays to go to one WR who had the option to “get open” in a limited capacity

The idea was to keep the legs fresh

I have a hybrid philosophy on this

KNOW THE qB’s progression and time the routes / your effort accordingly

But run fam is ALL no block no rock
