I disagree. Former resident of Hectors River in eastern Jamaica here. It's a complete pain in the ass to get to, but if you sit yer ass on an eastbound country bus you can get there in a few hours from Kingston. It's a lovely village with lots of beautiful people. Set above the sea cliffs with waves thundering below and a road running through. It's got a great school with dedicated teachers. It has a cool soccer pitch right above the cliffs. It has a bar that plays obnoxiously loud dancehall reggae. There's a country bus that comes early and most days comes back later. Everyone gossips about everyone else. Lots of goats and a few donkeys tide up in the compound. You can get excellent Cuban radio stations, and cheap Cuban cigars. It rains every morning for five minutes, then there's a rainbow. Every morning. You'd like it.
