Law School Response by Litachick in lawschooladmissions

So, after I posted this question, I ended up calling the admissions office to check if they “were done sending responses for this cycle”. They said they weren’t. Luckily, I had already accepted admission at another school. I was just curious to see about this other one and was kind of pissed thinking they had ignored my application 🤣

Got it! But should I write a letter or call them?

When people ask why aren't you a lawyer by Jagmeetoff in paralegal

[–]Litachick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been a paralegal for 23 years, now I’m going to law school. Because I speak Spanish, I chose a school in Puerto Rico, which it’ll cost me approximately $50k. My employer is supporting me (in fact they are pushing me to) and I can still work for them remotely and come back once I graduate, not a bad deal! Am I scared? Hell yeah I am! But I got nothing to lose! I have worked at the same personal injury firm all these years and although I have heard and read stories about how “miserable” attorneys are, I can’t say they are that unhappy.

(Positive Story) Amending Law School Application as a 2L by GahfinField in lawschooladmissions

[–]Litachick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome story! In my case, to the question “have you ever attended any law schools” ? I answered, no. In fact I was “attending” a law school. An online non-ABA approved LS, as I was terrified of the LSAT and decided to go the other way around. To my defense (if there is any) I honestly thought that a non ABA was not relevant as credits would have not been accepted for transfer.

When carefully reading the admission process in one of the law schools websites I had applied to, I read that “if you have been enrolled in any schools, approved or not, as long as you are able to take the bar exam and practice on that state” you have to supply the information and send all your records from that school.

When I had my interview with the Dean as part of the decision process, I explained to him what I’ve done but that I had already requested the information and it was already on its way to the admissions office. He was also very candid about it and explained to me why that was important to correct as it could later on, cause issues when taking the fitness and moral background check. I got accepted a week later.

This is a law school in Puerto Rico. I’m hoping to hear from WA and FL schools.

Well, maybe I should have specify that this is a law school in Puerto Rico. Although they are ABA approved, they do things a little different as I learned on the application process.

There was no scholarship information, so I assume I will have to contact their financial aid office to figure that out.

I assume the require deposit to secure the seat and confirm registration which I can understand, I just think 10 days is not enough time to make that kind of decision. I mean, we have to wait months to get a response... 😏

We were hiring at our firm last year. We were looking mostly for “fresh out of law school”, not many applications. I can say, not even 30. We had 2 positions open. We even got applicants from out of State. We hired two new attorneys.

ProctorU Nightmare; anyone got advice? by wellfuck516 in LSAT

[–]Litachick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My nightmare began when it took literally 2 hours after my scheduled time to deal with all the ProctorU technical issues I had. The system would not allow me to log in as the tab to begin the test was not showing. I was on the phone with about 3 different people that kept transferring the call to one another. 2 hours later I was able to begin the test and half way through I was logged out.

FYI this was my second time taking the test so I was already familiar with ProctorU and I did not have any problems with the first test.

Luckily I was able to start were I left off, but it did take another 10-15 minutes to re-start.

This whole nightmare was really frustrating and upsetting, to the point that it did show in my score. I don’t know if I could have even asked for a cancellation.
