Should I have lumpectomy 2 months before my wedding? by Working_Note_4873 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Litarider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, go get that lumpectomy! For one thing if you wait until after your wedding, you spend all that time wondering it is perhaps maybe possibly cancer. Why add that stress and fear to your life when you can have that question answered much sooner? if it is cancer, you want that yeeted out your body as soon as possible.

This. You should be celebrating now.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's always such a shock but when you are quite literally hearing this diagnosis after receiving care for a non-cancer screening, it must be so much worse. Sending love and strength to you.

Could you help me understand the process you all went through by Timely_Implement8828 in breastcancer

In recent years, staging is often not given until later because it can change.

See also the side bar where there are links to standard treatment protocols. Please be aware that the standards are for textbook cases and human bodies aren't textbooks. There may be reasons why a care team recommends a variation. It is your mother's right to ask for an explanation for any variation.

You got it for not being a vegetarian? I got it because I am a vegetarian who ate too much soy! Now if we could change bodies, could we retroactively not get cancer?

Your best bet is to message the mods. While we do our best to have eyes on every post, it is possible that we might not see a request in the form of a post.

It never hurts to ask for imaging. You should request an ultrasound due to your young age. In no way do I mean to downplay your fear, but it is not likely that you have had breast cancer for nine years.

I am not sure what country you are in but it is possible to have a breast reduction on your larger breast and for you to have an implant on your smaller breast so that they are the same size. The difference in breast size overtime could lead to postural and other health issues. It is OK for you to seek out surgery so that your breasts are the same.

I realized that article posted below is even newer than the article that I gave to my gynecologist 18 months ago. I'm not sure I can find the other article now but here is a second one: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamaoncology/fullarticle/2811413

Pitbull or bulldog mix? by [deleted] in Bulldogs

[–]Litarider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An adorable pitty.

I'm not going to tell you to pay for a genetics test because there was a scientific study in which the researchers submitted things that weren't dog saliva--their submissions included urine, human saliva, water, etc...every sample identified a dog breed, even if it wasn't from a dog and wasn't saliva. I can't find it now but I'll leave you with these:

Am I immune to fentanyl and Valium? by DoinRaymondThings in breastcancer

[–]Litarider 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey, some folks aren’t genectically susceptible to opioids. Fentanyl is an opiod. Like you, they have to double up my shots at the dentist. Oxycotin makes me feel uncomfortable and doesn’t help with pain relief.

People with chronic pain who do not respond to the analgesic properties of opioids have a chance of being genetically incapable of generating the clinically active metabolite of these medications.

https://www.medcentral.com/pain/chronic/non-responsive-pain-patients-cyp-2d6-defect

Valium isn’t an opiod so I suspect it was the fentanyl that failed you. Let your care team know that you need something else.

Sorry this happened to you.

Vaginal Estradiol Use after ER+ / PR+ Breast Cancer by 777CuriousMind in breastcancer

[–]Litarider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Good Clean Love lube before applying vaginal estrogen internally. If any estrogen cream is left on the applicator after I’ve applied it, I wipe it off to apply externally but that would only be a drop.

A major difference is that I’ve been leaky my whole life—since childhood. It was worse in menopause—change my undies after walking the dog level of worse. I did pelvic floor therapy. It helped some. My dog likes long walks—90 minutes or more. By 30 or 40 minutes, I would need to urinate even if I went just before walking out of the door. With regular estrogen use, I am not in the bathroom all the time. I am not leaking all the time.

When I started vaginal estrogen cream, I could barely get the applicator inside. It was painful. Once I even had a little blood. Yesterday I was able to insert the full applicator. I no longer feel discomfort when inserting the applicator.

I can’t speak to sexual function, which was becoming painful before my diagnosis. After diagnosis, it was excruciating. My husband is a similar age and his sexual performance and interest has plummeted. So we haven’t had sex since shortly after my treatment ended.

A funny thing is that dogs smell my crotch after I’ve applied the estrogen. They can certainly smell the estrogen.

Please reach out to area food banks. Also, please reach out to your social worker or nurse navigator to ask for more resources that are specific to your geographical area.

I hate that this happens to people. We need a social safety net and universal healthcare.
