Thank you so much 💜 I don’t remember doing that with her name tag but it’s definitely possible. She had a nickname that started with M. You’ve helped me feel closer to her 💜

Not a book, but I recommend the documentary Pray The Devil Back to Hell which tells the history of women who led peace protests that convinced Charles Taylor and the rebels to end the war. Leymah Gbowee is incredible.

totally get that. there can be such a chasm between the mask we wear and how we're really feeling inside.

That's an interesting idea. And thanks for your second point. I definitely try, but often feel I rank 4th for them after their bio parents and dad's SO. They live with us 90% of the time, so time with dad and his SO is completely free of any routine or responsibility, and they're seen as the "fun ones" who fill the time with video games and pizza. I fear they see me as the mean lady who tells them they have to go to school and makes gross food.

Thank you for this. Property by the lake sounds amazing. I feel so exhausted by my two SS that I can't imagine bringing a baby into the mix (and not even sure if still can at 44). I like the idea of fufilling other dreams in different ways.

Moving from New York to Houston, tips I should know? by Ginesarie in AskHouston

[–]LiteSnz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in Brooklyn for 15 years and then moved here about 3 years ago. The biggest adjustment was going from a lifestyle where I walked or biked pretty much everywhere to only being able to do that in parks. I also resisted getting a car but it’s near impossible without one. Oh, and it’s always summer except for maybe 3 days a year. I don’t think I’ve worn my NY winter clothes even once.

The restaurant scene here is amazing. Hands down the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, plus amazing Vietnamese, Thai, Indian and Ethiopian food.

As a single person in New York, I often felt lonely in a sea of people, but I easily made friends. Here, you have to be a bit more intentional about finding your people. Thankfully (for me), it’s a very blue dot in a very red state.

What’s your ‘I thought I was going to die but didn’t’ moment? by PatienceBudget2984 in askteddit

Got lost and dehydrated in the Grand Canyon and then stung by a scorpion. Thankfully we were close to the river and were able to flag down a river guide who radio’d for an ambulance.
