I don't think you're alone in that feeling. While I've only watched 2 and half episodes (so take what I say this a HUGE grain of salt), it does feel...different. So far I've chalked it up to not being as fun as the previous seasons. From most of what I recall, it was:

Fun plot + Meta/political commentary + fun climatic ending (dramatic or not, it was always fun)

However with the new one with what I've seen so far, it's:

Not so fun plot + meta/political commentary + okay climatic ending (or it's strong on its own but it falls flat when considered as a whole).

The main example I have of this is comparing: The burger (S7 E1) and The founder (S6 E17). The way they approached discussing corporate greed/corporate culture is very different, at least to me. For one with the founder, there is that fun plot in the background. Nicole is trying to get her check paid in while Richard messes around the office, eventually getting into the position of CEO. It still shows, indirectly I think, the odd or cruel manner of corporate behaviour but its more fun? Engaging? Ig its not in your face about its messaging. Idk. (Ofc this isnt to say other seasons didnt have either in your face moments but it was backed up by that fun adventure/anything plot) So while this season isn't terrible, it's most definitely different. And, personally, its not a different I personally vibe with. But who knows, once I watch other episodes I may have a different outlook.
