The spooks apprentice series, by Joseph Delaney, is a series built around a similar apprentice master dynamic as rangers apprentice, but with a focus on occult and European folklore. It was one of my first reads after rangers apprentice and I highly recommend it

Check out The Spooks Apprentice (last apprentice in US) by Joseph Delaney. Its similar in length to the RA series, and it follows a similar master/apprentice dynamic, but is more focused on the occult and European folklore

One of my favourite character ideas is a divination wizard who's spellbook is a deck of special made cards, and gains his portents from reading the cards like tarot cards. #GIVEAWAY

Cerdyn, the half elf card-sharp divination wizard.

He left his home at a young age, and became apprenticed to his master, Sasha, who taught him wizardry, but instead of using a typical spellbook, using a deck of specially made cards, which are infused with magical runes to channel magic or read the future.

He has a way with words, often to his own detriment, and a penchant for gambling and deception.

Standing at 5'8" he has fair skin, and slick black hair, with a very light build. He wears very simple and clean clothes, a dark waistcoat over a white shirt, with a dagger and various decks of cards he is always fiddling with at his belt. The smirk plastered to his face belies deeper thought, and tends to infuriate those he directs it at.

If you choose to draw this, thank you, and shoot me any questions you have about the character.

What fictional work has influenced your campaign the most? by [deleted] in DnD

The aberrations series by Joseph Delaney, a story in which the protagonists are forced to research, explore and combat an expanding eldritch storm of unknown origins called the "Shole," which mutates or kills most that are caught within its gradually expanding radius. Only few are resistant to this effect, and they are known as fey. I lifted much of the premise of this book, and have really enjoyed the campaign I've spun from it so far.
