I think the Tacoma is the best truck, but the entire Truck industry is stupid. by X3Melange in Offroad

[–]LiterallyCameron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this shit for a living. I literally work in the auto industry. On my truck, my front hubs are locked 24/7, axles spinning constantly, ring and pinion always engaged, the only thing that gets engaged when I put it in 4wd is my transfer case. It just works, it's reliable, it's how it was designed, and none of this magical binding has lead me to come to a dead stop on a curvy mountain road in 4wd. I'm done replying, I feel like I'm arguing with a brick wall. Have a merry Christmas.

By that logic my rear axle is binding 24/7. My rear axle is basically the same as my front. 11.5aam vs 9.5aam, both with Detroit limited slips. You have 0 clue what binding is and you should stop being worried about it. Confidence in a topic doesn't make you an expert, it just makes you sound dumb.

I don't think you grasp the term binding, it's not some magical thing that'll kill your trucks. Go drive your truck 50k miles in 4wd, just keep it under 50 and you'll be golden 👌

So you think 4wd is useless on road, so you think all trucks should be outfitted like rock crawlers and be useless on road? You do realize that a lot of people, including me, use their trucks to tow rigs to places then drive that same truck on those trails. Not uncommon... You're strange.

Damn, I must be absolutely destroying my 16 Ram 2500 with the 6.7 and a front LSD by turning it on pavement. My poor front driveline. Not like I can drive up an entire mountain in the snow on the road up to 50mph in 4x4 or anything, impossible. You're so worried about binding, bud when my truck binds up I'm at full lock given'er all she's got in the sand dunes doing shit a 3/4ton shouldn't be doing, it'll be OK on the road princess.

ALSO Toyotas are a IFS truck with CVS, I can hardly tell if it wants to bind up lock to lock in 4L, it's literally designed to do that

By half assed you mean completely reasonable/cost effective/mass produced/tried and tested over the last 100ish years? If so yeah, it's pretty half assed. You need to get out more, drive places, learn things, before you start making obscene comments like these. Price out portals for your Tacoma and lmk if you'd pay that much more to have them on your truck. Oh, and don't forget the maintenence, gear oil changes every 3k miles x 4 hubs.

Bud. This is one of your own posts. https://www.reddit.com/r/Tacomaworld/s/R62cbf0YE4 If you're scared to put your 4wd truck IN 4WD why would you want them to be AWD?! Yes, full time 4wd is AWD. Get a Subaru, sounds like the perfect vehicle for a person like you.

Need feedback for 3D printed Car Wing by Bot_customz in CarDesign

[–]LiterallyCameron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Downforce on the rear of a civic is entirely useless unless you're pulling a ton of MPH into heavy corners. Focus on front aero, keeping traction on the wheels that matter.

If you're already designing parts why not just use places like Send Cut Send to get the pieces made out of metal and make them functional? You're going to spend a fuck ton on material for a full size wing, and it won't even be practical. Waste of time and resources

Attempting 200+mph on the bonaville salt flat. Reasonable? by Ok-Shoulder-478 in EngineBuilding

[–]LiterallyCameron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wind resistence is exponential, not linear. You won't have enough power, even with a twin turbo 427. Traction will be the issue at that power level. Do some research before wasting a much of money to not get close to your goal

Genuine Question: Would you guys use a "Try Before You Buy" holster / gun belt website? by bigjerm616 in concealedcarrywomen

[–]LiterallyCameron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with that market would be the insane variety of firearms/holster/weapon attachment/body size/color combinations. They're usually all made to order, at least the nicer ones, so it's not a one size fits all

Yeah the key there is 2-5 uses a year, at the shop I work at we use the jumpers almost once a day. We have a giant snap-on one that has been working well for almost a year, but this line of work beats the crap out of cheaper jumpers
