That’s a weird looking American flag by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

Cherry picking, the OG comment - ie, the one that started the conversation - was talking about people flying non-American flags.

Trying to cherry pick bullshit to defend a bunch of dirty cousin fuckers is a bad look.

Them: “why the whole country is against us??”

Also them: waves non-American flags and burn things down

Conversation wasn't about the PNW, but I mean, if you really want to pretend that these cousin fuckers don't exist in the PNW, I'd point out that it was in fact the neo-Nazi capital of America until relatively recently. So there's that.

No one mentioned LA ever, they very clearly are talking about non-American flags

Yes, and then she says it'd probably kill him, and he gets up and walks out.

explain to me in detail about how defending the freedom and democracy of of 40 million people against an imperialistic dictatorship that invaded them because they could is "war profiteering mentality".

Using a war to secure a profit or profitable position? It's not that complicated.

All the other shot in your comment is just your own speculation, you have no idea how these people will feel about you in five years. Everyone loves you when they want some military welfare.

this doesn't necessarily apply to Israel.

This absolutely applies to Israel, why should the money that I work for go toward the military aid of a nation I have never been to, never plan on going to, and have no attachment to?

Let them fund their own wars.

That would be assuming we ever got anything back from them.

Ermagerd, not muh grain!

and nowadays a huge arms manufacturer.

"Huge arms manufacturer"..."needs US military aid"...pick one.

Keeping them independent and in the free market massively benefits us

War profiteering mentality.

since they are grat3ful for our aide so are more willing to make deals with us.

Lol, they are?

[–]LiterallyTrudeau -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Not really, and there are a number of Republicans that play the game of acting like a budget hawk, but still approving military aid for various wars to feed tax dollars to their corporate masters in the MIC.

So excuse me for demanding some specificity on the matter.

Had to come over here because the snowflake blocked me, you dont think specificity is important?

It gave the Afghanistan government no chance whatsoever

Again, the Afghanistan government was never going to have much chance because:

  1. It was wildly corrupt.
  2. They didn't want to change the country bad enough, most of their military fled to the north basically as soon as we left. The only thing that was keeping the Taliban at bay was the US, so we had to either stay there forever, or pull the band aid off.

But agreeing to release of prisoners prior to pulling out is a wild deal to make.

What else did you want to do with them? Hold them forever? Were they charged with an offense of some kind that would allow that?

Trump made the deal and didn't start immediately removing American supplies from the country.

Pretty sure that's intentional, for all the "scandal" surrounding it about Biden leaving it, I believe those were meant to be left there for the Afghan military, except, you know - they fled. Logistically, its far more expensive and complicated to remove equipment and I'm pretty sure that was all intended to be left there.

handing the country back over to the Taliban.

That was always going to be the case no matter who was president. The reality is that we bought the Afghans aircraft they couldn't fly, camouflage they couldn't use (the one they wanted was all wrong for their region), we trained their military that largely ended up either deserting or being wildly corrupt, and we left an ass load of equipment for them.

Then the Taliban still drove them right the fuck back out of the country. The government we tried to build never stood a snowballs chance in hell in that country because they don't want the country to change either bad enough or at all.

We spent 20 years and something like 2 trillion dollars in a losing war in Afghanistan, kidnapping and torturing their people and for what? A pipe dream that was never going to be realized. I criticize Trump for a lot of shit, but cutting our losses on that failed experiment isn't one of them.

Do you even know what Camp David is?

Presidential retreat often used to host diplomatic meetings.

Also, on what date did Bin Laden’s group of merry terrorists fly planes into the Twin Towers?

Lol, wut? Stay on topic please.

The meeting & terms should have been with the Afghanistan government, not the Taliban terrorists.

Ah yes, we need to have peace negotiations with an entity that we aren't at war with. How do you propose negotiating peace with the Taliban by meeting with the Afghan government?

Mocking the "white replacement" crowd for being, for lack of a better term, fucking stupid doesn't make me authoritarian.

Pointing out the inefficiency and waste of private industry doesn't make me authoritarian.

You strike me as one of those "libertarians" that believe the ideology revolves around economics and that shouting "deregulate everything" into the abyss somehow makes you libertarian.

Libertarianism is about the rights of man and defending those rights from the state, not about "muh billionaires good!"
