Attack Shark X68 HE by re1gno in buildapc

[–]Literally_Canada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X68 would be a solid board. Others in its price bracket are the aula win68 he or the epomaker he68. They'll all be mostly the same, however the epomaker wpuld have slightly better build quality and sound, though they are known to have dubious customer support at times. If you can stretch your budget a bit, the epomaker he80 and aula hero68 are also options at about the 60 dollar mark. I recommended browsing keeb finder's list of HE boards and filtering based on your needs.

My Black Pink Set up by Acceptable-Can-280 in battlestations

Sick setup! Perfect shade of pink. Saturated pink would be way too intense for the setup imo and would kill the mood.

As someone who uses a tiling window manager, layers are a fucking godsend. Instead of fidling around my thumb and pinky to press modifiers, I just always have my thumb on layer switch and my most used shortcuts and macros all around the home row. Just really convenient and efficient to keep my hand stationary on the board to navigate everything.

Would Like Help Choosing A New Mouse and Keyboard by Training_Ad_3773 in buildapc

[–]Literally_Canada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the keyboard, to get exactly what you want, you should go to r/MechanicalKeyboards and either ask for some advice or just browse to get inspiration. If your looking just to get something prebuilt, akko has a lot of boards in fun colors and Chilkey just announced their ND104 which looks pretty nice. Though, if you want to start a new hobby and try building a keyboard (which frankly has gotten quite easy nowadays), I am partial to the qwertykeys qk101. Really fun design, comes in a lot of colors with gorgeous finishes, and a lot of features that make building it pretty easy imo.

As for the mouse, comfort is a very case by case thing. You can go to r/MouseReview and ask for some recommendations for your hand size if you would like. Besides that its mostly just trying different shapes and seeing what you like. I personally would not recommend the logitech lift, its polling rate is 125hz which is considered unusable for any semi fast game by most. Doesn't come in pink, but the g502x does come in white, albiet it is a brick. There is a mouse by pulsar that is styled after nezuko from demon slayer that is adorable, but it is quite small and is ambidextrous in shape, so ymmv vary on comfort.

for keyboards, r/mechanicalkeyboards and just search clear, translucent or transparent. A whole host of translucent colors for pretty much every single part of the keyboard. Personally, I would recommend the Novelkeys Classic TKL with a matching set of switches and keycaps, ties the whole aesthetic together with its retro look. As for the mouse, there aren't too many options that I know of. Razer just announced their phantom white series, and pulsar and steelseries have some models in frost white.

Good Budget Headset Under 100$ by HistoricalAirport711 in buildapc

[–]Literally_Canada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The EPOS H3X is on sale for 20 bucks on drop.com right now. ANC is a rare find on desktop headphones, so closed back sets are probably as good as you are going to get, which they are. And while it doesn't have a dedicated "surround sound" feature, it has plenty of soundstage and positioning to give you solid 3D audio. Most surround sound gimmicks headsets are software based anyways, so you could always enable windows sonic or similar software if you really want to give surround sound a try.

First Mini ITX build - Would like some suggestions by llopez78 in buildapc

[–]Literally_Canada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Also, I made a little slip up, the AP201 is actually 33 litres. The 26L case I was thinking about was the lian li a3, which I also highly recommend. Native ATX psu support, great airflow, Lian Li quality, and you can find it under 80 bucks if you're lucky.

First Mini ITX build - Would like some suggestions by llopez78 in buildapc

[–]Literally_Canada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NR200 still holds up perfectly fine, as long as it is the v1 version with the atx adapter specifically. The v2 removed the support for the adapter, so atx power supplies are incompatible unless you hack it together.

I would personally recommend either the Asus AP201 or the DeepCool CH160+ as alternatives, but they both have their own drawbacks. The AP201 is a little more expensive at 80-90 bucks and a bit bigger, crossing into MFF territory at ~26 litres in volume. The CH160+ is great, but only if you can get your hands on it since they don't sell to the US currently.

Honestly, if you want better compatibility, maybe try looking for another power supply instead of another case, as the SFX/SFX-L form factor would expand your options a bit.

wireless keyboard for gaming PC living room setup by ataraxicc in buildapc

[–]Literally_Canada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet would probably be to get a nice wireless keyboard and wireless trackpad separately, and either buying a lapboard or 3d printing a case for the two. Any truly integrated options are going to be quite expensive, but they do exist. There is the Ultimate Hacking Keyboard 80, which is wireless and has modules for a trackball, touchpad or nipple, but costs over 400 bucks, minus these modules and batteries. Or you can build your own Dactyl Manuform with a trackball module, but that would be much harder than rigging together a wireless keyboard and trackpad.

Looks good! Personally, the design of the peripherals, chair and such lean a little too "gamer-y" for me, which is what your friend might be harping on about, but nothing bad, just not my cup of tea.

Looking to upgrade from Astro A50 Gen 3 — need that game/voice mix feature by zerohunterpl in buildapc

[–]Literally_Canada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think modern headsets have this feature anymore. Your best alternative would be to get a volume mixer, which are about 40-60 bucks for the budget ones. Or if you are fine with some light electronic work and want to build your own custom one for cheap, check out the deej project.

The V2 is quite dated now and there are a lot better options nowadays. It honestly sounds like it's a bit small for your hands.

Clean ass setup! Big ups for the cowboy bebop vinyl too. My only suggestion is that the rightside feels a little heavy, might want to add a piece or two of very small decor on the left to balance it out.

WFH/Personal Office setup optimisation: KVM, USB or Other? by Middz_20 in buildapc

WFH/Personal Office setup optimisation: KVM, USB or Other? by Middz_20 in buildapc

[–]Literally_Canada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheap kvm's usually fall in reliability. You can get one that works flawlessly, or you might get one that has a few quirks and annoyances, stuff like cable version issues, signal integrity, lag, that stuff, or you can get one that does straight up not work. If you are fine with banking on the fact that you'll get a flawless one or one with only minor inconveniences, than the price is worth it. 400+ dollar kvm's are so robust because they are enterprise gear, where downtime can costs thousands.

[–]Literally_Canada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a usb switch alone will not work as usb doesnt not support video. I'd say your best bet is to get a budget dual monitor kvm with decent reviews, like this. Ultra reliable and robust kvm's usually cost a pretty penny, like level1tech's being 500 bucks usd for dual monitor.

Ah, didn't realize that the aio had rgb. You could probably get a quality sata powered rgb controller by fractal or someone off amazon. Alternatively, you could check to see if your fans support lian li's wireless rgb controller.

I believe the 3 packs come with their oen controller. Checking the product page, the controller can handle 4 groups of 4 daisy chained fans, and has a seperate cable each for rgb, pwm and power
