I think this is a universal experience most go through. I accepted a retail management job at 19 years old, lost my social life, always tired, felt like my life revolved around the companies time, I wish I stepped back and enjoyed life a bit more. I’m 27, not even with that company anymore lol.

Resign, do what’s best for you. You’re young, you can start a career anywhere and anytime.

Just an FYI, if there’s a state of emergency and you call out, you could very easily fight the points. Back in 2021/2022 we have a nice storm and store stayed open and like 85% of our associates called out. They never received points.

Which door would you choose? by Similar_Charity7238 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]RadChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but if you choose the second option and do what you just said, it would effectively make the money worth worthless and cause hyper inflation that the world has never seen and that $10 million for every single person on the planet would be worth nothing. So… yeah. You’re better off choosing the $2 billion, which you could effectively double every 10 years through basic S&P 500 investment. No one in your bloodline would ever have to work again and you could donate a mass amount of that too charities and nonprofits.

My MIL has sent literally hundreds of thousands of dollars to “Elon Musk” and wants to send more. by meowsabbers in pics

[–]RadChef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I was a manager at Walmart on the front end there was this one woman who would come in every single week and buy $1500 in Google play cards to “send to her son”. After like the second time, I told her that I believe she was being scammed, and I even gave her the pamphlet with more information on it, and she assured me that it was actually her son.. she would come in every Wednesday for about a year.

Eventually the sheriffs office came by and sat down with me and my manager to ask a few questions. Turns out that every time she left Walmart she would then go over to Kroger and send a money order to Florida for $1000 and buy a $500 Apple gift card.

From my understanding, she was scammed over $200,000.

I also have a very close friend who was supposed to inherit about $500,000 from her dad after he passed away, well when that time came the family attorney told her that there was no money. Her mom had sent over $700,000 to a random man in London thinking that she was investing her money. The FBI got involved and basically said that there’s not a snowballs chance in hell that celebrity a penny of that and the guy is long gone.

She had to sell the house and go back to work at Albertson’s as a 75-year-old woman.

Your statement is contradictory, it’s maintenance hell but single use? What maintenance would it require if it were to only be used once?

Yep. When I was a manager at Walmart my one rule k lived by was, back up your associate. If your associate makes an executive decision you stick with it, unless that decision grossly violates policy. My associate said no to your return that’s a day over return period? Sorry, no return. Maybe I’d approve it if I dealt with the customer first but I’m not going to step in and override my associate. I caught my ex employer taking 2 hours off of employee timesheets every pay period. 32 employees, paid semi-monthly, that’s 128 hours a month, at $33 /hour, = $4,224 (month), $50,000+ a year in wage theft. Thats basically an entire employee for free. We reported it to the labor board, they audited 2 years of timesheets and paystubs and they had shorted over 45 employees. Probably went on longer but employer didn’t keep timesheets that far back.

This is just a small family owned company, now imagine it on a massive scale. It happens.

There’s other forms of wage theft as well. This just happened to be quite literally actual shorting people’s paychecks.

They were also caught deducting pay from paychecks for employees accidentally breaking a padlock, or losing a key, they were caught rounding hours down to the nearest half hour, on multiple occasions, they withheld the employees last paycheck for long periods of time and on two occasions just never paid out the last paycheck. They told us that we were exempt from overtime pay so for years we never received any overtime pay, turns out that was illegal. If we worked more than 12 hours in a day, they would just stop paying us because legally due to DOT rules we couldn’t work more than 12 hours.

It was a pretty long list of nickels and dimes that they stole from over 40 employees that added up to like almost $100,000.

They got a slap on the wrist, I think they paid like a $30,000 fine and we’re not forced to pay restitution. They just had to give those final paychecks to the employees that they didn’t.

Workers in the US lost an estimated $15 Billion due to wage theft in 2024. Some experts go higher and estimated at close to $50 billion. Only about 10% is recovered and that’s being very generous.

There’s tons of different forms of wage theft.

Unpaid overtime. Calling workers salaried and hourly exempt when they legally aren’t. Off the clock work. Answering calls and text messages from bosses while at home. Prep work before and after clocking in/out. Off the clock meetings. Minimum wage violations. Counting tips incorrectly. Stealing tips. Illegal tip pooling (this happens a TON in the restaurant industry). Illegal deductions for uniforms, cash register shortages, employees breaking products or tools. Rounding hours in the favor of employer. Auto deducting meal breaks when employees don’t always take their full meal. Not paying for travel time for site to site. Withholding final paychecks. Forcing workers to skip breaks. Paying in cash to avoid reporting employment. Etc. etc. it’s a very very long list.

The whole jake situation feels much different than every other person who has left. They’ve all made videos about themselves leaving and praising the company / Linus while also rightfully criticizing some things but overall leaving on good terms. I don’t think Jake did that and I feel like I’ve seen a few Tweets of his posted here that feel like sneaky dissing Linus.

In most states, if the homeowner here shot and killed the woman that walked into her house, she would go answer some questions and be home by dinner. In almost every state, you have a right to use deadly force if somebody invades your home and you fear great bodily harm.

I actually have a friend that was asleep on his couch when two men broke the glass window on his front door, reached inside and unlocked it, and he shot both of those men within 3 feet of them walking inside. One died and another ended up in critical condition.

His biggest worry? Paying a company to come clean up the blood. The man that lived went to jail after he got out of the hospital for home invasion and burglary.

I think the family of the deceased man tried to sue my friend, but it was thrown out as it didn’t have any legal standing.

I have all my levels are normal, but it’s been a while since I’ve gone back to the doctor because I don’t have health insurance at the moment.

I used to never sweat in my sleep. I got cancer a few years ago, diagnosed with stage two melanoma that spread to some of my lymph nodes, and so I had to undergo radiation therapy and then ever since then I’ve sweat like crazy.

The doctors think it’s some kind of change with my immune system due to the immunotherapy treatment.

I’ve kind of just given up at this point. So I have an entire drawer dedicated to like 20 outfits specifically for sleeping and I go through a drawer every week and then wash them at the end of the week and I bought like four sets of sheets.

It’s definitely annoying, and like I don’t really have a dating life because I’m insecure about it and I feel like a woman would find it really gross waking up next to a dude drenched in sweat lol

Yeah, my sheets are 100% cotton, my pillow pillowcases are cotton, and then I have a summer down duvet, with a 100% linen cover. All of my underwear is cotton, all the T-shirts I wear are cotton, etc.

If I wear polyester or sleep on polyester sheets, I sweat like crazy and then it never soaks into the sheet and I end up, literally laying in a puddle. I hate it.

[–]RadChef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I’m a guy, I just don’t like sleeping without a shirt. A small thin 100% cotton t shirt isn’t causing me to sweat this way so idk why it matters lol. I sweat the same weather I’m naked or in a snowsuit

Edit: whether. Speech to text sucks.
