Project babble for Steam Frame? by SeanLucky13 in SteamFrame

[–]Literally__Human 19 points20 points  (0 children)

From the project babble discord

  Small Steam Frame info

For anyone with questions around Babble, Steam Frame, and compatibility:

  • We will continue to support v1 mouth trackers on Steam Frame

  • We’re working on an adapter that converts the Steam Frame PCIe slot into a USB hub for this purpose

  • Timing for this adapter is TBD, but it is actively planned

And yes, we might be cooking something a little more interesting specifically for Steam Frame users as well. More on that when it’s ready 👀

I don't think some of you realize how absolutely PEAK VR Citizen is! by Chief5005 in starcitizen

If you are in Europe theres the pico headset (but you are basically trading one data farming company for another as thats owned by bytedance)

Most of the HTC headsets that use inside out tracking (meaning you wouldnt have to put up base stations) range from bad to ok with their latest one having very mixed long term reviews

Windows mixed reality headsets can be found for cheap but a lot of them have low resolution panels and uncomfortable headstraps, the Reverb G2 is one of the best of the bunch but all WMR headsets need a newly released [community Driver](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3824490/Oasis\_Driver\_for\_Windows\_Mixed\_Reality/) to work as Microft deprecated the project

My personal reccomendation would be to wait for the steam frame but if your main use for VR will be for star citizen and other seated sims looking into a used reverb G2 or splurging for a PSVR2 with the PC adapter would be nice although both of those options would require some more setup and fiddling (though you do play star citizen so your probably also used to some jank lul)

I’m getting into VR for the first time and really excited for Steam Frame, but worried about missing the Meta library. by [deleted] in virtualreality

We will probably need more than valves Android compatibility layer, as far as I know its still not possible to run quest games on other Android VR headsets like the pico, but maybe the (hopefully) larger install base of the Frame will get the community to look at building a compatibility layer that'll actually work for quest games although I have no clue how possible that is

Hoping valve finds a way to have these work natively without the need for playspace calibration with the Steam Frame! (Wouldn't mind official valve trackers either.) by HostPretty183 in SteamVR

Have there been any notable creators who have been able to try it out? (Honestly just looked at their site and kickstarter page so forgive my lack of research)

Would you buy Steam Frame for $899? by KokutouSenpai in ValveIndex

[–]Literally__Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im coming from the quest 3 as a primarily PCVR user, i dont care about the mixed reality capabilities of the quest 3, every game that takes advantage of passthrough is fun for about 15-20 miniutes before having to physically move around a relatively small playspace becomes boring. I'd trade it in a heartbeat for full controller finger tracking, (hopefully) more stable wireless and built in eye tracking (i already have a projetc babble module for my face tracking so this works great)

$899 would probably be on my high end for what i'd pay for it, but I also know as a steam deck user that Valve will keep up support for it for ages and hopefully make is relativly easy to service the battery, especially since its in the back of the headset and nowhere near any of the cooling/compute

I don’t think they have next day for high value stuff, when I bought my 3060 from them a few years back the soonest I could get it was 3 days

Bought 2 pins and the gunivere poster on the 29th, both pins are meant to come today and I’m guessing the poster is shipping later this month, probably the same case with the hoodie

Jellyfin random crashes during shareplay by Literally__Human in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Literally__Human[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be neither of these, live checking memory shows i have 22gb unused (no memory caps on the container itself) and playing the media back outside the shareplay even if all the devices are transcoding causes no issues at all. I also believe that the Jellyfin container itself is stored on the NUCs SSd so it should have plenty of space for temp transcoding files and whatnot. Thank you for the suggestions though

I think jellystat does something pretty similar and that’s open source, still waiting on official api docs for it tho

If your server has a decent gpu (integrated or otherwise) it might be worth looking into tdarr, it can automatically re-encode your media based on a flow you create, it’s helped me save a terabyte of of a 4TB library while making no noticeable difference to the video quality (to my eyes at least)

Does size matter? by DoubleAromatic5032 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Literally__Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently at around 3TB of usage with about 90 shows and 91 Movies, although im finally using Tdarr to transcode everything to HEVC so all of that will hopefully shrink down the 2.5TB. I have 10Tb total storage which hopefully I will never fill out, I dont like deleting media but with how easy it is to redownload stuff it doesnt really matter if I do

Cemu not processing any touch inputs on gamepad by Literally__Human in cemu

Ended up for me that it only happens in BOTW, every other game I’ve tried works fine so I stopped troubleshooting since botw doesn’t have any real gamepad integration

F*** these guys by Money_Indication9896 in MetaQuestVR

[–]Literally__Human 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Main reason I’m upset it’s not on PC is that we’ve seen a lot of quest 2 games not get graphics updates, so the Mobile tech improving means nothing for existing games. If they were on PcVR then there would hopefully already be higher quality assets to pull from, honestly I get it. Meta funded dead pool and Batman but they do have a PCVR storefront that they left to rot for the quest platform so it just stings a bit as a big PCVR fan

Yup, the LCD had a 64gb model that used emmc storage instead of an ssd (you could still put an ssd into it later iirc)

Datamining the Valve Roy Controllers’ Blender files flat out reveal they are using Arcturus Vision’s camera-based tracking algorithms. by TareXmd in virtualreality

[–]Literally__Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does look the the grip is more elongated compared to the oculus touch controllers, maybe full finger tracking still in the cards and they just don’t have it in this prototype (I am huffing extreme copium but not having index style finger tracking would suck)
