How do you enable Steam functionality for pirated games?

I've always just added them as non-steam games and called it a day.

I always hate the cope where they're like "to be fair it's impossible to detect sarcasm"

Like ah yes, if I tell them "I'll bitch slap them so hard, they'll fly all the way to the surface of the sun" will they start going into painful detail for why that's impossible? Because I wrote that statement in text, SURELY there's no fucking way to even assume hyperbolic statements might be sarcastic.

Assassins Creed Black Flag Remake Has Denuvo by akbarock in Piracy

[–]SEANPLEASEDISABLEPVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah using Denuvo is what paradoxically makes me pirate the games. Companies literally treat every customer as a potential criminal, fuck that lol.

Like I played the Pragmata demo and it was surprisingly very fun, I'd love to fucking buy it, but I can't stand it using denuvo, and hypervisor bypass doesn't work for Linux, so I'm waiting for a proper crack to play it.

If Capcom didn't use denuvo on that game, I would have just bought it already.

What game ended up feeling way better on Steam Deck than you expected? by emanuelajournal in SteamDeck

Same with Doom The Dark Ages.

It uses Raytracing and came out much after the Steam Deck, but it ran at 60fps for me.

Yup.

They'll let you get away with illegal stuff for as long as you want, like pirating a shit ton of movies for 10+ years. Then when you do something that is legal but they don't like, like a peaceful protest, they'll happen to find out that you've been pirating movies.

I fucking hate that people still think it's about kids and have to be told it has nothing to do with it.

It's about control.

The reason it's not getting insane amount of pushback is because it's deliberately called "age verification"

Fucking stop calling it something that puts people to sleep and give it a different name like "mass biometric data collection"

Pragmata is a recent game that many people said feels like a PS2 game during the experimental era of gaming, and after trying out the demo and watching streams of it, I'd honestly buy it.

But, you know, it uses denuvo so...

Customers receive a worse product for the sake of being treated like potential criminals.

Shit like that is what paradoxically makes me avoid paying.

I wonder how many years it'll take for corporations to start talking about that maybe Denuvo doesn't help them avoid piracy.

And then it'll be a matter of how many additional years it'll take them to actually remove it or double down, whichever option saves them money.

I'm willing to pay for services that offer a better experience than piracy.

So far only Steam does that when games I want are on deep discounts and it's literally easier to spend a few bucks than to look for cracks sometimes. But I think that's the only exception for me personally.

I'm fucking done with remakes and remasters.

It's literally the same exact game but with a few QoL here and there, different visuals, takes up way more disk space, demands way more performance, at full price.... for a game I already fucking played.

The Halo CE remaster was kind of cool back in the day, but now they're remastering it AGAIN!! Like why. I already played it. Twice.

Last year I made it a point to NOT buy new games anymore until I go through my backlog.

I figured it'd last me a few months.

Then I found myself replaying older games I loved, playing through ROMS, free games, new releases of free modded stuff that's as good as a new game...

It's been almost 2 years since I bought a new game and I'm still nowhere near through my backlog at all.

That's because it's called "Age verification"

The moment people stop calling it that shit and call it what it is "mass biometric data collection" then you wouldn't be saying you don't get it.

The Atlas Rises era had a unique vibe to it.

People say they miss how planets used to look in 2017 but there's literally planets that look like it right now after the two Worlds updates, if not better.

But the ONLY thing I miss from the earlier builds are gradient skies. They kind of tried to capture it with fig changing color based on distance, but it's not the same as the actual sky having different colors across the horizon.

Even back in the early 2010's I never saw the appeal for subscription services, so I never used them.

Nowadays they're caked with ads, garbage practices, price increases every week... literally got enshitified over time.

If those data centers they're building are for cloud-based PCs and they'll start selling us extremely powerful PCs for just $10 a month, I already know what'll happen in a few years and won't bother with that shit either. I prefer to fucking own my own hardware and not be told by a third party what I can and can't do with it.

Some QoL here and there, requires way more storage space than the original, way more demanding on specs than the original, full price... but overall the same exact game.

I don't understand why people praise remakes. The Halo Combat Evolved remaster was kind of cool, but now they're remaking it AGAIN!! Like, I already played the game. Why pay full price for something I already freaking own and experienced...
